Sun’s out, new brewing toy out! ☀️😎
After last night’s moka pot trials using the Varia Brewer from @variabrewing , I decided to try it for pourover this morning. I’m happy to say the pourover cone worked better than I expected. Although the rib design looks similar to a popular Japanese brewer, it doesn’t behave the same way and that’s actually good (for me). Simply put, it’s slower flowrate means a more even extraction... something I always look for in pourover cones.
Recipe: 18g to 288g, 93C water, filter grind, 1:3 bloom 30s, followed by a slow and low circular pour until ~120g, another until ~200g, and a final pour to target weight, TBT~3:00. Coffee used was a Nordic roast Guatemalan from @lippekaffe x @beanbrosco ground on @kinugrinders M47. - 1 day ago
