Putting together two of my interests, music and action figures from New Brunswick, Canada 🇨🇦

Nursery Cryme is the third studio album by Genesis, released in November 1971. Founding member and guitarist Anthony Phillips had left the group, citing increased stress and lack of willingness to tour, which the band did extensively to support their most recent album Trespass. This left the band almost at a point of breaking up, but they decided to push ahead but make some changes to their roster where all the members are equal in both talent and contributions (specifically writing). This means they let go drummer John Mayhew and replaced him with Phil Collins, and the empty guitarist spot was eventually filled with Steve Hackett and now the band was ready to level up their performances, both recorded and live. Collins ended up being a strong presence as a backing vocals, and even featured him as lead vocals for the track "The Absent Friends". The album got mixed reviews, but only because critics felt the production severely lacking, leaving all instruments and vocals seemingly fighting to be heard instead of the usual elevation of guitar, drum or vocals to stand out from the rest. The album also suffered from poor promotion, but with extensive touring their growing fanbase managed to land the album on the chart by 1974 where it peaked at 39 on the UK Albums Chart. The cover art is inspired by the lead track "The Musical Box", which is a story about a young boy named Henry that was accidentally decapitated by his friend Cynthia. This led to Cynthia running to the house and playing Henry's old music box, which invoked an older Henry that was sexually frustrated and tried to seduce Cynthia, to which a nurse walked in and smashes the music box, making Henry disappear for good. While I'm sitting here, both eyebrows raised to their max, Harley Quinn just looks up and just shrugs her shoulders as the plays croquet with the heads of Alfred in different universes. #genesisband #70sprogrock #progrock #progressiverock #philcollins #petergabriel #dccomics #harleyquinn

Cheek to Cheek is a collaborative album between Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, released in September 2014. After having met at the Robin Hood Foundation gala, where Gaga sang Nat King Cole's "Orange Colored Sky", Bennett approached her to sing a song with him on his Duets II album. However, it wasn't long until Gaga wanted to produce a jazz album with Bennett in order to inroduce these classic jazz songs to a younger audience. They pulled up some songs from the Great American Songbook, such as "Anything Goes" and "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Aint' Got That Swing)". The album fared pretty well, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, making it the third consecutive for Gaga and Bennett's second of his career. Even if you're not a fan of the genre, the duo definitely make it fun and interesting to discover the timeless sound of the songs they picked. Gaga admitted the late Amy Winehouse was on her mind during much of the recording, because she regarded Winehouse as someone who was jazz to her core. Wonder Woman can't help but throw herself at Alfred when these songs come on, as they both clearly remember the times these songs had made their original debut. #cheektocheek #ladygaga #tonybennett #traditionalpop #jazz #collaboration #dccomics #alfredpennyworth #wonderwoman

Flaunt It is the debut album by Sigue Sigue Sputnik, released in March 1986. The band was founded by Gen X bassist Tony James after they had disbanded and picked up a handful of musical friends to bring us a very unique production style of playing advertisements between songs, so companies like L'Oréal and i-D magazine would have ads placed with fictitious commercials the band had come up to add time between the tracks (and I can only assume help with the production costs of the album?) and even the liner notes for the album contained various ads spots. The album starts us off with a remix of their Top-5 UK single "Love Missile F1-11" which was pretty interesting having Scarface and Terminator sound clips slipped in there, and can be heard playing in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and even the classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Definitely the epitome of new wave music going on here. Jetfire, standing here next to the album cover, is pretty oblivious to innuendo, so he's curious to what a "love missile" might be, to which I advised he should definitely turn on "safe search" before he starts Googling for examples. I have @daleneperry to thank for giving me an album to contribute to @celerah 's #newwavewednesday ! #siguesiguesputnik #flauntitalbum #80smusic #80snewwave #transformers #jetfire #newwave

Into The Groove is a song by Madonna, released in 1985. According to Madonna, the inspiration for the song came from when she saw a Puerto Rican man dancing from across her balcony, and as the song suggests, the singer (being her) wants him to dance with her. The song had a story of its own before having become part of her movie Desperately Seeking Susan, in which she was planning on handing it over to her friend Mark Kamins for his protege Chyne to perform, but (and unfortunately with no warning nor heads up to Kamins) she instead decided it was best suited for her upcoming film. As for the song's video, those who have seen it will remember it containing clips from the movie, which was done not only to advertise it but also so it could stand on its own among the other four Madonna videos in the same heavy rotation. The song charted well across the world, but the way it was released in the US, as a B-side to Angel, it didn't qualify her for the Billboard Hot 100, but Billboard did end up giving it the honour of Dance Single of the Decade. Meanwhile, we've got the Wild Card crew here celebrating their heist of the decade, cracking open the finest bottle of Michaels prop toy wine I could find. #madonna #intothegroove #80smusic #80sdancemusic #fortnite #fortnitewildcard #desperatelyseekingsusan

Tattoo You is the 16th British and 18th American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released August 1981. There's some interesting history on this album in which the band were both preoccupied with touring obligations and personal feuding to really pull them into the studio to record, but they still needed to release an album to promote for their upcoming American Tour 1981/European Tour 1982. I've been doing these posts for over two years and have yet to run across a situation like this, where they actually Frankensteined most of this album from outtakes and unused songs of previous recording sessions going as far back as 10 years, and bridging any gaps with frequent Stones' collaborators or in some cases even session musicians. The one who might have had the most hands on work in the album's additional production was Mick Jagger, where he was tasked with overdubbing the vocals, as well as writing the lyrics and melodies. When it all sounds like a trainwreck waiting to happen, it actually gave us an album that many critics considered a return to form for the band (which I mean, how could it not be since they technically used older songs possibly containing said form?) and it managed to keep the number one position on the Billboard 200 for nine weeks. Something funny about the title is that it was supposed to be just "Tattoo", which Jagger maintains to this day, and there doesn't seem to be anyone who knows, but bandmate Keith Richards believe Jagger had a hand in it and doesn't want fess up. Now, imagine if someone would tattoo you the way Punisher has his warpaint done up tonight, but hearing myself say that I'm about 99.9% there's hundreds of people with that style of face tattoo. #rollingstones #tattooyou #80srock #80smusic #marvel #punisher #classicrock #rockmusic #rockandroll

Woke Up with a Monster is the twelfth studio album by Cheap Trick, released in March 1994. We find the band having just signed with Warner Bros Records for what was meant to be a ten-album deal, and they wanted to start off right by getting veteran hard rock producer Ted Templeman. The band was thankful that Templeman let them play how they wanted, when they had often been told to soften things up. So they came at this effort with their heads in the game, doing away with the dominant keyboard sound from previous albums and also staying away from guitar solos or empty lyrical content. Everything seemed to be going well, right up until the album's release and then it suffered from lack of promotion because the two Warner Bros. personnel responsible for bringing them on were fired at the same time right when it hit the shelves. It peaked at 123 on the Billboard 200 and then Warner Bros. subsequently let the band go after just one release. Tonight, Headpool thought it would be funny if Deadpool would let him borrow his body (hey listen, this may not be canon or possible, but just go with it) so to surprise Lady Deadpool for Valentine's Day, declaring "Hey, look at all the extra moving parts I got now, especially this one!", he said pointing to his pinky toe. What did you think he was pointing to? Honestly, you should be ashamed. #cheaptrick #wokeupwithamonster #warnerbrosrecords #hardrock #90srock #marvel #headpool #ladydeadpool #deadpool

This is the vinyl for two of the most prolific songs from Queen's album News of the World, if not their entire career, released in October 1977. Both songs were written in response to one of the band's shows as part of their A Day at the Races Tour, when after having played Stafford's Bingley Hall the crowd started singing Rogders and Hammerstein's You'll Never Walk Alone. This gave the band the idea to create something that would encourage the crowd to perform the songs along with them. We Are the Champions was written by Freddie Mercury while We Will Rock You by fellow bandmate Brian May. To this day, the songs are still live strong and both are inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Speaking of champions, there was a time Doctor Doom had let his country of Latveria become overrun by dictators and opportunists, but a young woman by the name of Zora Vokuvic barged into Doom's castle, past his Doombots and handed him his iconic mask and stating his country had been without its champion for too long, and that he should retake what's rightfully his. #queen #wearethechampions #wewillrockyou #70srock #70smusic #arenarock #marvel #doctordoom #freddiemercury #brianmay

Platoon: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and Songs from the Era is the soundtrack to the 1986 Olive Stone-directed film of the same name. The film's score was done by George Delerue, while songs playing during the film and included on the soundtrack are The Tracks of My Tears by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane and Okie from Muskogee by Merle Haggard, which some point out is an anachronism (fun word, yeah?) because the song was released in 1969 while the movie's events took place during 1967. According to the Billboard 200, the album peaked at number 75 and stayed on the chart for a total of 13 weeks. If we go by the Marvel Comics Universe, ol' Captain America here was still frozen solid after nosediving in the arctic ice after World War II, however the comic book storylines get kind of blurry since obviously they kept printing Captain America comics after the WWII story arc had finished. Marvel even went as far as postulating Cap would have turned on his country's directives in order to protect innocent Vietnamese families from overly aggressive soldiers that fought for the flag he claimed allegiance to. #platoon #moviesoundtrack #80smovies #oliverstone #classicrock #randb #rhythmandblues #psychedelicart #marvel #captainamerica

Drive: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack to the 2011 film of the same name, composed by Cliff Martinez. The film's director Nicolas Winding Refn wished to have ambient electronic music playing throughout to give a subtle sound with a strong narrative, so he picked Johnny Jewel of the band Desire and the Chromatics to lay the groundwork for how to score certain scenes in the film, and composer Cliff Martinez stepped in as the composer to emulate the sound and feel of Jewel's signature style. Now Ryan Gosling played a pretty cool cucumber (did I just call someone a cucumber? I should avoid taking such long breaks between IG posts going forward), and the music seems to match his personality, but I gotta admit if Harley Quinn were to replace Gosling, the soundtrack would have had to include the classic Fine Young Cannibals song "Drives Me Crazy". #drivemovie #ryangosling #moviesoundtrack #edm #electronicmusic #dccomics #harleyquinn #kavinsky

Completely Under the Covers is a collaboration between Matthew Sweet and Bangles vocalist Susanna Hoffs, released in April 2006. Their mutual love for songwriting from the 1960s was the fuel for inspiring this compilation of songs originally performed by such artists as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees and more. I used to listen to Sweet's Girlfriend album back in the day, which is what peaked my interest when I saw this album scroll through my feed and it's definitely a well-produced tribute to a very influential time for the direction music has taken to this very day. Tonight, we've got another Matt with us, as in Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, as well as Elektra, who have definitely been know to find themselves completely under the covers given their romantic history. #matthewsweet #susannahoffs #completelyunderthecovers #coversongs #musiccollaboration #marvel #daredevil #elektra #rockmusic

DAMN. is the fourth studio album by Kendrick Lamar, released in April 2017. After "To Pimp a Butterfly", which had met widespread acclaim, Lamar had his work cut out for him, but it seems he took this challenge head on. Production contributions came in from his label Top Dawg's head Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, and others such as Mike Will Made It and DJ Dahl, while Rihanna and Zacari added some vocal collaborations. Lamar's lyrics keep getting more prolific as well as his delivery, so much that this album even earned him the first Pulitzer Prize for Music by a non-jazz or classical work. And Lamar even had another trick up his sleeve by releasing a collector's edition of the album featuring a reversed tracklist and promoted it as an added benefit to the listening experience of this album. We've got Falcon tonight, who had the same reaction listening to this album as he did in the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, which is, of course you guessed it: "DAMN." #kendricklamar #damn #topdawgentertainment #conscioushiphop #hiphop #rap #pulitzerprize #marvel #falcon

The Best of The Doors is a compilation of songs by The Doors, released in Europe in November 1985 then North America by June 1987 (not to be confused with the compilation album carrying the exact same title released in 1973). It's a two-disc compilation which includes two of the Doors' famous poems "When the Music's Over" and "The End", which respectively appear at the end of the first and second disc. There's also a short essay, band origins and influences, and notes on Jim Morrison's personality written by Danny Sugerman printed inside gatefold sleeve of the vinyl edition of the album. The second disc starts off with "Hello, I Love You", which is what Star-Lord says when he looks in the mirror to witness the ripped physique he was graciously given (see "borrowed from Namor with a questionable position of consent"). #thedoors #thebestofthedoors #psychedelicrock #bluesrock #acidrock #marvel #starlord #guardiansofthegalaxy

Countdown to Extinction is the fifth studio album by Megadeth, released in July 1992. It's the second album to feature the "classic" lineup of David Mustaine, Marty Friedman, David Ellefson and Nick Menza. Mustaine had made the difficult decision to drop Chuck Behler and Jeff Young from the band after they had refused to enter rehabilitative counseling. Rather than having Mustaine contribute the majority of the album's material, the band made this a full-on group effort for the first time. Even with the entire band holding the pen, the lyrics still carried political and military themes, including animal rights issues mentioned in the album's title track which actually ended up winning the Humane Society's Genesis aware for raising awareness to the cause. Megadeth was also in a unique position to walk through a door they openly admitted Metallica had just opened, which was the door to mainstream success after they had done so with the release of their fifth album, also titled Metallica (usually bands make the debut album eponymous, but hey, it's not a rule). So the band made the decision to simplify and strip their sound down a bit but keep the insane technical precision of their musicality on point, getting the nod from critics and fans like, making this album their biggest commercial release. They entered at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, held back only by Billy Ray Cyrus' mullet and accompanying album Some Gave All. We've got Ego tonight, who was tricked into doing a little favour for the Pools in exchange for getting to have a turn at getting Namor's ripped scaled Speedo body at his disposal, but he didn't anticipate the favour being babysitting (or headsitting?) two Headpools while the rest had a night on the town. It will be a symphony of destruction when those 'pool get back he thinks, looking into the sky! #megadeth #countdowntoextinction #90smetal #thrashmetal #heavymetal #marvel #guardiansofthegalaxy #headpool #deadpool

Blown Away is the fourth studio album by Carrie Underwood, released in May 2012. After finishing her Play On Tour, Underwood chose to challenge and give herself an entire year to come up with material that had both a darker tint to its storyline and more substance to the lyrics going into the songs. Her label was behind her on this effort and it paid off in dividends both commercially and critically, debuting at number one on the Billoard 200, making Underwood only the third female artist to have three number one country albums behind Faith Hill and Linda Ronstadt. Even the not-so-positive reviews still get Underwood credit for taking her time and not being afraid to change up an already-winning formula on her previous efforts. One of the tracks on the album is titled "Do You Think About Me?" and Emma Frost knows for a fact Cyclops was thinking about her, considering they were having a psychic affair behind Jean Grey's back, whatever that is? I'm just glad I'm safe here in my tiny Canadian town, far away from anything that might result from that kinda thing. Sorry took so long @keelo1027 to get this album featured, you can blame Hasbro for taking so long to release a figure that worked with it! #carrieunderwood #blownaway #country #countrymusic #marvel #emmafrost #xmen

Dragon's Legend is the second and final single by Koto, released in 1988. It's an electronic music production that includes samples from the 1983 animation-based based video game Dragon's Lair. In 2018, Armandox released a 30th Anniversary version of the song on multiple platforms, including SoundCloud. By 1988, Star-Lord had seen both the Dragon's Lair video game and Transformers The Movie, which is why you see hesitation on his face about just plain jumping on ol' Wreck-Gar, because he's been witness to his erratic ways. He won't be able to help himself though for all the TV-related references he'll get to hear on the way to his destination, though. #dragonslegend #koto #edm #electronicmusic #80sedm #transformers #wreckgar #marvel #starlord #guardiansofthegalaxy

breathe is the seventh studio album by Tiny Moving Parts, released in September 2019. This is the band's first album under the Hopeless Records label and deliver well on what we expect from this "family" band made up of two brothers, William Chevalier and Matthew Chevalier, with cousin Dylan Mattheisen, giving us some music that carry in a dose of adrenaline some of you may need for whatever task you may be taking on. I have to admit, I connected to the band's name immediately because my entire account is pretty much based on my action figures that have tiny moving parts, and this album cover makes you wonder "who inspired who" between me and the person responsible for the cover art because it looks like they also took to some action figure-level magic to come up with it. #tinymovingparts #breathe #hopelessrecords #mathrock #indierock #scoobydoo
