Poses like this don’t come easy, but if you come to my classes then you know that I talk a lot about working more than passive flexibility to progress 😉 When you stay passive in your stretching, things like binds in your backbend will be a struggle. When you take your next bind, really think of strength and what it would take to hold that shape without having to bind. Or if you have the bind, would you be able to release it without the leg or foot flinging or launching away from you?
We might not go into poses like this in my classes, but everything we work on will take you deeper into your bending practice - because that’s exactly what worked for me! I used to passively take binds, and even though it looked more flexible, if i were to let go of that bind, my leg would launch away. It’s all about the core, glutes and hamstring strengthening on top of hip mobility and shoulder mobility. Really think about this one the next time you hit that bound pigeon, or dancer pose 😘❤️
