I’d like to say a few things before I log off for the night. Today has been SO FUN!
1. THANK YOU so much for staying tuned & watching my takeover today! 🥰 it’s truly be my pleasure to engage with so many dope people in this community!

3. If you are trying to change your body or lifestyle, it takes TIME. These pics you see are over 5 years. That’s 5 years with two competition preps & 1 half marathon. Trust me when I say it’s not easy, but YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU FREAKING WANT! 👏🏽
4. Get your mind right, once you conquer your mind you can conquer the world. 🌎
5. Be kind to yourself. You will not feel 100% every day. You will not want to hit the gym sometimes or go on that run or eat the boring chicken & rice your brought from home. BUT the days you feel 60-75% are the days that make the biggest difference in your lifestyle. You don’t need to look like any of these photos. You need to look like how you want to feel inside & out.

When you experience any kind of stress, one of the ways your body processes it is through the adrenal glands, which respond by creating a flood of stress hormones, including cortisol, that then affect both your digestive system and your immune system.⁣
⁣
Traumatic stress is an extreme version of the stress response that your body has following a traumatic event. When your stress doesn’t turn off, your body is bathed in hormones and neurotransmitters that can damage your gut bacteria and your intestinal lining. It affects your mood, sleep, and energy, and produces increased levels of inflammation – the underlying root of diseases like arthritis.⁣
⁣
The first step is to become aware of this connection; the next is to find ways to reduce the stress in your life.⁣
⁣
In addition to eating healthy, a key component in balancing the gut is tending to the mind-body connection. The mind is the part of you that is always thinking, planning, worrying. When you practice mindfulness and mind-body exercises such as meditation, you’re bringing your attention to this moment, so you can take a break from the memories or thoughts that trigger feelings of stress from the past or future. ⁣

This is a practice that you need to do often, ideally every day, and with practice it will get easier and have a greater positive effect on your body. Try picking up a new hobby, exercising, meditating, acupuncture, or talk therapy. ⁣

What the heck does a rest day mean?!?

Means ENJOY LIFE!! 🎉🍻😎🥂Yes you must stay FIT (mentally/physically) in reaching your goals but you also need a recharge period. You MUST rest. Did you know that if you don’t rest your muscles, they will plateau & stay stagnant?! Same for your brain 🧠

Give yourself a break. Take a rest day if you don’t feel like heading to the gym. Watch Netflix in bed. Splurge on that chocolate chip ice cream 🍦 BUT just don’t make it a habit everyday 🙃
