“Come on, I know you want me.. Just a bite! You will see!” “Mister Brownie, please, stop!! Please, no! Noo!” This is basically what happens in my mind every time I see one of those delicious dark beauties! Yea.. I still have to win over them.. Anyone else? 🙈
Brownies are a relatively modern recipe. It is said that their first appearance was in 1893 when Bertha Palmer tasked a pastry chef to create a dessert suitable for the women attending the World’s Columbian Exposition (a fair held in Chicago to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s discovery). Anyway, it was still quite far from the one we know and, in the following ten years, different recipes appeared in few cookbooks. But it wasn’t until the 1904 that the modern version hit the records! From then on, it became progressively more and more famous! It is to say, though, that, after almost a century, the discussion on brownies’ origin is still open! In fact, there are evidence that might support the theory of a Bangor Brownie (from Maine). Who knows! Meanwhile, I’ll have one more! 🙈
For my brownies I used: dark chocolate (60%), butter, sugar, flour, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract.
Next time I’ll make them with almonds and nuts! 🤤
What do you think of them?
