As I say weekly, remember it’s not likely your basal metabolism that is the problem. It’s your appetite and overall movement.

Studies have tried to determine if metabolism predicts weight gain and inability to lose weight. Basal metabolisms can vary slightly but if you ever get a metabolic cart test done, you’ll likely see you’re right where the calculations predict! (Unless you have untreated hypothyroidism or you already lost 100 or more pounds). I have patients who are 250 or more pounds say they are eating 1200 calories and not losing weight. Then they get their metabolic cart test that says they burn 2000 calories per day at rest.

Coming at you with some glute activation / booty burnout moves! As I explain in the video, I like these moves to activate & warm up the glutes before a leg workout, or to use after your leg workout for a good burn out. If you workout after a long day of work where you’re sitting all day, or early in the morning after sleeping all night, taking a few minutes to activate and warmup your glutes will help you feel them a TON more when you start your workout. Only 2-3 minutes is needed- you don’t want to burn out the glutes BEFORE your workout, or if you’re doing these at the end of your workout ideally you should’ve done a lot of heavy work prior and will not need more than that to really burn out the legs at the end 😊 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Give these a go and let me know how much better your leg workouts feel!! Muscle gain is a simple process; if you apply progressive overload on key lifts in the gym, eat in a slight caloric surplus and consume adequate protein, you will gain muscle. ✅

If you’re not gaining strength you’re either not eating enough food or not trying to apply progressive overload so whichever one of the two you’re not doing you need to start implementing that. 👌🏻

Most people do calves at the end of leg day when they are exhausted so calves tend to become an afterthought and get rushed. However, if you want your calves to grow, you need to make sure you’re stimulating them when you train them. Don’t bounce at the bottom and rush the reps. Instead, focus on the stretch at the bottom and the squeeze at the top. You already made it through squats by this point. Just focus for a few extra minutes before you wrap up your leg workout 💪🏼.

Yeah, it's important for growing muscles, but protein plays an important role in just daily bodily functions.

Don't underestimate the role of protein in your everyday life. Gym goer or not, everyone can stand to increase their protein. The average American is drastically under eating protein.

So, a nice cup of coffee and 25g of high quality protein to start my day keeps my mind at ease and my body in an anabolic state.

Plus, who doesn't love flavored coffee without worrying about all the syrups and sugar??

The thermic effect of food is the amount of energy expenditure above your base metabolic rate due to the cost of processing food for use and storage.

As an athlete, it's super important to maintain your body with the proper amount of calories. If you're not feeling like you're recovering properly or don't have a ton of energy, try upping your caloric intake to make up for the thermic effect of the food you're eating.

🔑Low to High DB Fly: This is a great workout for the lower chest. Make sure you’re keeping your shoulders square and crossing the chest midline on each rep. Hold the weight underhand (supinated).⁣

🔑Rear Delt Fly: Your arms shouldn’t be straight during this exercise. To effectively target the rear delts, bend your elbows and extend them as far back as you can. Get the elbows BEHIND the body and contract. Go back and behind, not out and to the side⁣
