Yesterday on Instagram, Ann Voscamp writes, "What if this was a Lent of More of God? Give up—whatever you need—to hear God speak. It's never that we don't have enough time—it's always that we have different priorities. The enemy plots our destruction through distraction—distraction from God's Word. Give up distraction to keep your soul from destruction."
The moral decline of our society is no surprise when we consider that only 22% of Americans read a section of the Bible each day. We are "too busy," yet we have time to binge watch Netflix, post on social media, and shop Amazon prime. We fill our calendar with more activity instead of slowing down to soak in the Word of God. .
God is worth slowing down for. He is the Bearer of peace, but first we must declutter what steals our time, fills our mind, and distracts us from our primary focus—Jesus. What can you give up this Lenten season to spend more of your day with God?
