Israel Palestine land issue has been a matter of interest for not only millions of Human Rights activists but also for hundreds of political powerhouses.
Post World War 2, the UN decided to create a safe haven for about 650,000 new refugees who had to flee the Nazi regime and therefore created the country of Israel, as Jews claimed Jerusalem to be their original motherland based on the advent of Zionism, a belief that Jews ought to possess their own state. The rising tensions between Israel and Palestine and its neighboring states of Syria, Egypt and Jordan kept on escalating which led to the famous Six-Day Arab-Israeli war in 1967 leaving around 700000 Palestinians stranded on their own soil.
Palestine neither then nor now is officially recognized as a 'country' by the UN and thus the systemic land acquisitions by Israelites cannot be a matter of legal scrutiny. However, Palestine's significantly less advanced economy and defense relative to Israel creates major disbalance of power in the region. Testimonies from thousands of Palestinians point to how they were left with no choice other than working as servants and being treated as second class citizens on their own lands.
Talking of recent developments, the alternative one, and two-nation theories although haven’t had many reverberations, it has been brought to light that most citizens concurred with the idea of separating the two countries fully and giving Palestine an independent identity.
This issue, significantly more than several others, sheds light on the fact how international politics can be messy and bodies on which we rely to make important decisions can falter. What is important is perhaps recognizing that there is no sense of objective 'ultimate truth' for humans to rely on and that our individualistic approach towards certain ideologies of ethnocentrism and socialism needs to be backed up by morality.
