Energy Vampires come in many forms from other humans through to tasks, situations and of course we too can be an energy vampire to ourselves.

Good energy is one of the top contributing factors to us delivering the best of ourselves to the World but most importantly to ourselves...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We bet you know exactly what we mean now right 🙋🏻🙋🏻 - you can name an energy vampire without even having to think! Worst part is you know it is sucking the energy out of you but you don't know how to manage it or banish it!

Much like the mythical Vampire - it doesn't just die - it takes stakes and holy water! Like next level shit to make these changes!

What does this look like for us? It is looking at our weekly calendar together and what we call our "Energy Balance" - We check things like have we got exercise, quiet time, family time and then make sure everything we are doing is productive - removing non essential items that drain you emotionally was probably the biggest thing that saw a shift. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This one was particularly hard as it meant saying no and being ok with the guilt and opinions of others when you can't do things - like "catch up for a coffee" which usually translated into "I am bringing some work I want you to help me with rather than joining your school" or "I know your genius zone is creative ideas so I am hoping you will just do your thang while we sip on coffee and I won't have to pay you for that."

The list of this is always long and over time I can tell you we have sat at coffee dates that have turned into, "can you just look at my Instagram" to "it will only take you 5 minutes to update my bio" - we were people pleasers and we were helpful humans as we LOVE people but it took a toll on us last year where we didn't stop, from the moment we woke up and went to bed on 2 hours sleep.

Ah, but wouldn’t it be nice if it were? I had the best freaking day today and was so proud of all the progress I’ve made with exposures lately and then BAM! OCD burst my happy bubblegum bubble right in my face! 💥

But I’m going to think of it like this: The feelings and emotions caused by OCD anxiety can build up into a huge bubble and literally burst in my face unexpectedly. I can chose to leave it stuck to my face or I can peel it off and move forward. I don’t know about you, but I’m going with the latter because I look pretty silly with gum all over my face. 🤪

Just a friendly reminder that just like anything else in life, your feelings will not last forever.  You may be feeling stuck, feeling sad, feeling worried, or feeling panicked.  You may even be feeling happy, feeling powerful or feeling brave.  All your feelings are real and they are all valid.  And they will pass. One of the worst parts about feeling anxious was thinking that it would last forever.  A moment of anxiety had the power to ruin an entire day for me.  Once the anxiety hit, it would trigger intense worry about how long it would stay and whether or not i would be able to handle it for much longer.  The day I understood that feelings don't last forever, was the day that I was able to accept its presence.  With acceptance came relief because once I just let the feeling be there, with no pressure to disappear, the anxiety started to feel more like a feeling than a prediction for my entire life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Just a friendly reminder that just like anything else in life, your feelings will not last forever. You may be feeling stuck, feeling sad, feeling worried, or feeling panicked. You may even be feeling happy, feeling powerful or feeling brave. All your feelings are real and they are all valid. And they will pass. A moment of anxiety had the power to ruin an entire day for me. Once the anxiety hit, it would trigger intense worry about how long it would stay and whether or not i would be able to handle it for much longer. The day I understood that feelings don't last forever, was the day that I was able to accept its presence.
