Seneca Falls, New York is “the real Bedford Falls,” George Bailey’s charming hometown in my favorite Christmas movie. It’s a Wonderful Life was actually shot in the summer of 1946—in the midst of a heat wave, no less —which also explains why Stewart is clearly sweating in key moments of the film. I’ll be in Seneca Falls this weekend for the premiere of a new film that compares how closely the two towns — real and imagined — are related.
