In light of recent events, I’ve been taking lots of time to reflect. I hope what I write here today can encourage some of you ❤
God used this verse from Genesis 1:31 to speak to me. When God created everything, He said that it was good. He breathed life into man and woman, and they were made in God's image. “God saw all that He had made and it was VERY GOOD.” As I read that, my heart was heavy. I told God, "But what I see is not good!" Racism & prejudice - people created in the very image of God are dying and living in fear just because of the colour of their skin. It is NOT good.
I long to experience God’s perfect goodness and for it to reign on earth. Because today, many of us are weary from fighting, crying and grieving. We feel helpless, overwhelmed and frustrated. We ask, “What has happened to God's beautiful creation? What have we turned this world into with our sin?” But God spoke these promises to me: There is hope. A GOOD God created everything. And though we live in a broken world, a GOOD God provided and planned our salvation from the beginning. A GOOD God came and died in our place shedding His blood for a sinful people, conquering all sin and death so that we can have hope of eternal life. At the end of all things, He will bring restoration & reconciliation! Every wrong will be made right. His love, justice, righteousness will reign. He will once again call His creation "VERY GOOD." This is the hope of the GOSPEL!
But until that day, this is my prayer. God, teach me:
- To love others as You first loved me
- To not think of myself more highly than I ought - To be quick to listen, slow to speak
- To do my part in helping the oppressed, the hungry, the thirsty, the sick
Oh Lord, may our hearts be moved to action. May our eyes may be opened to our OWN prejudices, biases and attitudes toward others. May we be willing to listen and learn from people different than us. Especially for those of us who call ourselves your followers - help us to be the ones to share Your LOVE & GOODNESS throughout the earth as we eagerly await your return! Amen. - 2 minutes ago
