QUICK TIP: NEVER POST HORIZONTAL IMAGES! ❌
If you compare the second to the first slide, (the original image) doesn’t even come close to the impact of a 4:5 image. Accidentally shoot horizontally like I did? (I wasn’t thinking when I was simultaneously trying to capture a cool shot on the floor while also trying to avoid a double chin 🙈) No worries- I got you!
STEP 1: Stretch your image. If you try to post a horizontal photo as a 4:5, it will cut off most of your image. So as you can see in @procreate time lapse, I kind of just drew in the rest of the ceiling, and when I didn’t want to draw in more carpet at the bottom of the photo, I conveniently added mysterious black smoke over the bottom of the image 😅 Busier backgrounds require more creativity to lengthen (like my milk bath photo I added to the end for reference!) But any photo can be turned 4:5 for the gram!
STEP 2: I added the planets using stickers from the @bazaart app. Make sure to play around with opacity and blur to avoid your image becoming flat! Realized you forgot to add blur like I did? No problem! ⤵️ STEP 3: @facetune ✨
I know “facetuning” has a bad rep but I don’t see anything wrong with retouching an image. It’s just like makeup to me 🙈 My favorite tools on the app is Smooth, Blur, Tones, Details, and Whiten. Disclaimer! I never edit my body bc #bodypositivity but I don’t see the difference between taking out my pimples via concealer or the clone tool 🤷🏻♀️ STEP 4: the final step!
I use @lightroom for all my filtering/ stylizing. (Is that a word? 😂) I don’t have a secret formula to how I use the app because it just depends on the original photo. No two photos are edited the same way, so I just play around with it! I’ve recently gotten really into adding grain for a more artsy look to photos 🤪 💥 & That’s it! I know this seems like a lot of steps but I’ve honestly been having so much fun with my instagram lately, it doesn’t feel like work for me! Thank you guys for encouraging my creativity 😭💞 I hope these tips were helpful!
