Sorry we have been hiatus for a while, there’s been a lot of changes going on, which I’ll tell you about another time, I’ve had Marie’s health as my main focus and being worried, drains me for energy hence the reason we been inactive, hope you’ll understand that.
So as you already know, Marie have been on antibiotics for a while, her last day was Wednesday, last week, but I still thought she wasn’t acting like her usual self and her symptoms didn’t completely go away. And she still has a runny eye on her right eye. I was starting to wonder whether something was blocking her tear duct or perhaps, however very unlikely, that molar roots were causing her runny eye.
So today she went to the vet to have her tear ducts flushed and molars checked. I also informed the vet about my concern regarding her remaining symptoms of the bacteria infection.
The vet did x-rays and everything was just perfect, she said it was the most perfect picture she had ever seen. She went on to flush her tear ducts, and while doing so, abscess started running out of Marie’s nose. A rabbits tear duct goes through the skull and empties tears into the nasal cavity, which is why matter from her bacterial infection passes through the nose when flushed.
So tomorrow, Marie will start on antibiotics again for a full treatment plan of 30 days and then hopefully that will get rid of the bacteria once and for all.
I’m very relieved that my concern was confirmed and that it wasn’t just in my head. I should know by now, to trust my instincts when I feel like something isn’t right.
Marie is very groggy but she’s eating. For now she just needs rest to recover from a tough day. But for the first time in a while I’m feeling calm and confident that she’ll be just fine.
Have a very nice weekend everybunny 🎄🌟♥️ - 8 minutes ago
