I like to hit the decline cable flys last because you really can't load too heavy on this movement without recruiting alot of shoulders. Also it is arguably the chest movement that you looked the most jacked while doing.

Few sets of these is about all I do for shoulders anymore. Still feel like they overwhelm my biceps/triceps in most poses so there's not really a reason to get them any bigger, for now. I always do side laterals seated or standing on the cable. In the seated position getting that slight lean at the bottom gives a great stretching feeling.

The same exercises as last week, same weight as last week, I just DID THEM BETTER. I literally cannot emphasize enough that adding weight is the last thing you should typically be doing. The main focus for anyone lifting weights should be technical efficiency and creating strong recruitment patterns. Progress cannot truly be gauged unless there is a controlled variable.

I use to always do deadlifts first on back day but for awhile now I've done lat pull downs or pullovers first then deadlifted. Last few weeks I've switched to a seated cable row because my biggest focus is increasing that rhomboid and upper back thickness. Now I know you might see your favorite IG bodybuilders doing rows with this weight, but they arent doint it right. You wont see them hitting 455 for 10 clean reps, barely trying, without bouncing the weight like a buffoon. Thats why they play for team NOGAINS.

You wouldn't have to be a fortune teller to know what I did this week for chest/biceps. Incline presses with the 120s for a single set. You may be thinking, why does he always use the same weight? If you truly examine the numbers this is a 20% increase in weight from last week. That is a huge jump already, and by the end of this training cycle I will be at 30% from week 1. Anyway cable flys next with dog crap intensity honestly. Another press and fly after and overall decent work but needs to be more intense next week. Biceps, sticking to the basics as usual. Stretch/ contract. Preacher curls at the end to emphasize peak contraction.

Friday so of course shoulders/triceps. Didnt do a ton for shoulders this week, 4 working sets. Triceps went according to plan with 280x15 close grip to start. Thank you to the rude old man who was pissed I had one more set to do on the cables for giving me strength on that set. Skull crushers after which almost always end up giving me tendonitis but sticking with a moderate approach seems to help. 100lbs for a couple working sets. The cable rope extensions I'm using to target the long head of the tricep so I'm keeping it tucked much closer to the body at the end range of motion. Altogether about 8 working sets including 1 set of cable rope kickbacks

Got both my fly variations recorded and both bicep exercises today. Messed up recording my first press exercise 😂 I prefer doing flys standing on the cables as it allows for free movement of the scapula and less overall stress on the shoulders compared to a standard pressing movement or flys supported on a bench.

Part of my back work from Thursday. Just a single working set on pendlay rows with 315. This is a pretty easy movement when you dont deadlift beforehand 😂 likely next week I will deadlift for reps prior and keep the weight the same for this exercise.

Okay not really 😂 but definitely way more than he should have been. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On the right is a much more disciplined, healthier Gabe at 168lbs. It’s pretty obvious the powerful effect a little bit of exercise and consistent diet can have. Not only does he look like a tank now but he’s walking around with a lot more confidence. I couldn’t tell you how many compliments I’ve got about his transformation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He’s trained with me 3-4 days a week for the past 7 months. Fully committed to creating a better version of himself since day 1. Still Bartending and surrounded by tons of not so healthy influences but he’s chose to separate himself from the average. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Current Physique Update

There’s a 5 year difference between the two photos.. I’m sure you might expect a more dramatic transformation in 5 years but the truth is I often face many of the exact same challenges my clients face daily. I experience lots of ups and downs. Some days I feel like a God and other days I wish I could hide in a cave and not talk to anyone. I deal with the stresses of growing my business, working through and around injuries, days when I don’t feel like eating, trying to be the best father figure and spouse I can possibly be.. Trust me the list goes on and I feel it all.. but I try not to show it. I have to be a walking billboard and the best example of a leader for my clients, family and friends. I can’t afford to give up.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But to return back to my point: this is a marathon not a sprint. It’s a never ending journey and you WILL face trials and tribulations along the way but the only thing that matters is that you keep pushing. Keep striving and always keep the bigger picture in mind. This has to be one of my favorite short quotes from our instructors so far.. When all of my muscles are nice and tight, all are working in unison, these seemingly difficult poses become effortless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’ve been practicing Hot Yoga once or twice a week for quite a few months now. And let me tell you it’s one of the most beneficial forms of “exercise” I’ve ever experienced. Mentally, physically, spiritually beneficial. I can definitely see myself becoming a master at this practice in the future. I personally love it for the challenges you face. Not only is it completely out of my element compared to my typical gym setting, but learning how to hold these poses while being in an oven is tough! If it’s hot enough my face usually starts to tingle and I have to REALLY focus on my breathing in order to stay alive. As hard as it may be at times I finish ever session extremely proud of myself for doing something out of my comfort zone.. And I feel like I’ve been reborn again 🙌🏽

As is my nature I meant to do some lighter work on rack pulls but the rack was taken so I went from the floor heavier than I've gone in awhile. 3 reps with 545 and I had 2 more pretty easy. Anyway next week I'll take completely off deadlifts and rack pulls and just hammer some rowing movements.

She’s one of the lucky few who I selected for my free #4WeekTransformationChallenge and here are her results! Down just 3lbs on the scale but as you can see she’s gained muscle and tightened up everywhere! We hardly had to “diet”; simply tweaked a few things in her current eating habits and she gave me 110% during every training session. That’s all I can ask for.

I made a mistake in the video. What I meant to say was, "It's 100% nutrition and 100% training". When we are not making the gains we like and we feel like we are going backwards, sometimes we need to step back and analyze so we can move forward.

Most of the time it all goes back to nutrition and sleep and stress. But here we just talking about nutrition.

Pretty good comparison of these last 10 months. .
It's hard for me to to know what to say on social media, but I will share an observation. Some people have the best coaches, equipment, training partners, supplements, some other advantages others don't and or don't have to deal with disadvantages others have. These same people talk the most about how dedicated they are. Yet at the end of the day often times they are not the ones standing in the winners circle. Maybe it is because they have so many sources of 'motivation' or 'inspiration' that they forget what this is all about. It's you,  just yourself. . 
So anyway be your own source of motivation and inspiration because otherwise when things get really hard, you'll never make it.
