'And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, “This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!” And each day, it’s up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart and say, “No. This is what's important".'⠀
The learning curve to get my head around this has been, and still is, steep. Taking on ALL the burdens and worries of the world will leave us feeling depleted, powerless and small. Making conscious choices -with our own level of resilience in mind - about where to engage and how to best contribute, is a better, much healthier, strategy in the long run.
I had to stop watching the news - first out of overwhelm and a sense of despair - now, by choice. I choose to look for more positive news, happy endings, beauty, abundance and joy. Because that is very much stories of our world, too.
So I became more selective. Not only about news, but about people I spend time with, activities I engage in and thoughts occupying my mind. The latter one is a lifelong ‘project’ with lots of room for... refinement, shall we say!
How are you doing? Have you taken some conscious steps to protect yourself from being ‘dragged’ into overwhelm and worry? - 25 minutes ago
