Game 6 Recap Pt 2!
Turn 3 was vital for House Falcon. I had to clear that central objective and start pushing onto @isaac.mcmahon1 ’s home objective. Isaac, all too aware of this, threw his Kabalite warriors forward to create roadblocks and fortified his objective. The one remaining Ravager failed to kill the damaged Valiant and he couldn’t quite move the second Grotesques unit close enough to the Valiant to charge it. I couldn’t quite reach the Grotesques on the other central objective or Isaac’s home objective this turn. As such, I focussed on closing the distance to the home objective, clearing the contested central objective of Aeldari and making it so the Grotesques couldn’t support the home objective in subsequent turns. I managed to clear out the road blocks, turns out Kabalites die quickly to 3D6 flamers! and successfully got out of the way of the big Grotesque unit. The Helverin successfully took down the third and final Ravager too. Turn 3 score 12-8 to Isaac.
Turn 4 saw Isaac start to worry. He couldn’t get the Grotesques through the terrain to reach me and his army was split in two. The Archons on the home objective (one his Warlord) fell and I successfully cleared this of enemies (although I still couldn’t quite reach it... right in the far bloody corner!). The Drukhari characters did reduce the injured Valiant to 2 wounds however, effectively taking him out of the game (I had no CPs left after T4 to buff him up). End of Turn 4 score was 14-12 to Isaac, cutting it fine here Knights!
Turn 5 was unfortunately the final nail in the coffin for Isaac. The Knights turned on the Grotesques and dispatched them. Isaac kept control of the second central objective but it isn’t enough as the Knights of House Falcon now proudly strutted over the corpse of his Warlord and his home objective. Game ends on Turn 5 with the final score 20-16 to me, so close!
And with that, I claimed victory in the Ultimate Commander Plate Tournament! Commiserations to Isaac, such a great player, had some of his units held on for just one turn more I would have lost that one! Third time lucky for him I’m sure, I look forward to meeting him on the field of battle once again! - 3 days ago
