Should I use exogenous ketones?⠀

For those not familiar with this supplement it’s gained popularity along side the #ketogenic diet. They’re marketed to help with increasing energy and weight loss.⠀
.⠀
It’s true that these supplements will increase ketones in your urine, breath and blood, but it doesn’t guarantee you’re in ketosis (a state in which the body is utilizing ketones as a fuel source).⠀

Do they increase energy & fitness performance?⠀
.⠀
Yes, possibly for some to a degree, but the chances of utilizing these exogenous ketones is dependent on an individual body’s ability to “see” these ketones and flip the metabolic switch to be utilized.⠀

If you aren’t metabolically flexible, aka eating the standard American diet consisting of 200-300 grams of carbs/day, you might only be making very expensive urine.⠀
.⠀
That being said, the brain is very clever and knows that ketones are a much faster and cleaner burning fuel source, and prefers to utilize ketones for fuel, so it’s possible to potentially increase mental performance.⠀

This has been reported to be the case in those with dementia, parkinsons, autism, ADD / ADHD, schizophrenia, & seizure disorders.⠀

I use to like Lenny and Larry cookies a lot before I realized how unhealthy processed foods and low quality protein is for us. I do however still like quality sweets in moderation. This is take on healthier eating. Made with minimal all whole-food ingredients, here’s my initial take on something I’m determined to perfect over time. For the initial starter recipe check the link in the profile. These are soft, contain simple ingredients, are very low in carbs and taste amazing!  Give it a try.

Ahhh... #refeedday on my #snakejuicediet has happened, and the fasting clock is back on for 24 hours. I’ll have #ketoomad tomorrow, and then my intention is to commence #rolling72s for the month of June. 
My fasting buddy shall remain anonymous, but I’ll send her this post. 💪🔥😍 I’ve had a huge revelation since starting this #fastingfocusedlifestyle two weeks ago... As you know, I battle binge eating (by the way, today marks 22 days #bingefree so yay to that), and many people will find extended fasting triggers binge eating behaviour, so I did have ponderings about that when I decided to embark on a fasting protocol. 
But... I’ve had these feelings about how this approach is already - surprisingly - making me feel a sense of food FREEDOM! 
When you are implementing a protocol - in other words rules or structure - you have a PLAN and set your mind to stick to it. It also means a lot of your eating of centred around one meal a day, or one meal every couple/few days. It opens the doors to feel a bit more freedom with the content on your one plate, as opposed to day after day losing control. 
Self discipline has always been my theme for my success, and this current path I’m traveling down is no different. It’s about a structure set in place for success, driven by discipline and self love. 
Today’s example of major food freedom was having not one, but two foods I have otherwise tried hard to simply not have:

1. 90 second bread
2. Boursin cheese

I enjoyed a generous, approximately 1000 calorie refeed meal after fasting since 3pm Monday, basically 120 hours ago. I did not break the fast an hour early out of hunger, but because the food was ready to be prepared. 
I had bacon, sautéed with coleslaw mix, 1/2 cup of leftover ground meat, 2 eggs, the toast and cheese, and it truly hit the spot. Happy, satisfied, keto belly right here. 
I feel fuelled and ready to wait for 24 hours until the next meal. Who knows, maybe I’ll have the same thing, maybe not. 
So, cheers to finding your way, fumbling, but learning and growing from the ineffective choices. Here’s to conquering the binge eating through a fasting focused lifestyle with food freedom. 💙✔️🐍

WELP, I’m a little early but I’m not mad @ it. 😅 my 2nd #ketoversary is in 2 days, but I finally hit my goal weight of 220. 💪🏽 not going to get emotional about it (I’m an ugly cryer) 😖 but this number has been the #meatwinkie dangled in front of my proverbial treadmill for 2 years. I am proud of myself, I worked my ass off (it fell off somewhere along the way) for it. 4 gold stars for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ now, what’s next? 😏

Lazy day at home today but not really thought about food today.... but strange! 
Finally broke my fast at 6pm after 24hrs, with a protein shake.  Then ate a salad with a few crinkle chips and 3 breaded onion rings! 16:8 today & fast broken with a turbo with a kick green juice. For lunch we had lime chilli rice salad with Linda McCartney’s burgers and later I made a minty shepherds pie which was lovely and again, I managed to split it 6 ways rather than 4.
