As much as I am sad for leaving Colombia 🇨🇴 and its beautiful nature abruptly, I am very grateful and happy to be home well and safe. During the time when the travel chaos slowly crept in, a few people kept their cool, and diligently worked to help us get back home safe. Today’s post is for them.
There is scarcely another bird whose image is more widely used in Colombia than the #hummingbird . There are many varieties and colors but they all have a couple of things in common. They are the smallest of birds fluttering about, and they have an outrageous capacity for visual and spatial processing. Much like the people who helped us, who kept believing each of their small individual contributions would have a positive impact on our journey home, and were willing to process the ever changing travel information. They were the buzzing bright colors on our longest journey home ever.
Thank you 🌺 to @miraviva , @meschausier and the @galavanta staff on the ground.
Above all a very, very special thank you 🌺 to Andrea Hernandez working at the Avianca check in desk in Santa Marta airport. Without your positive, solution-oriented attitude, your patience and kindness our journey could so easily have been a far worse experience. I have no personal contact for Andrea Hernandez, and postal services between Switzerland and Colombia are currently halted so this postcard is now waiting the end of the covid-19 pandemic period. For the time being this is my only way of once again sharing my gratitude with Andrea. Maybe somehow this image finds a way to her mobile screen. Hoping you, your colleagues at the airport and everyone who hosted us during our time in Colombia stays well.
