Why Im MAD! about micellar water...
Some of my patients will already know how I feel about this topic! I’m MAD about micellar water (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘺)
Time to confess! Are you an avid user of micellar water? I promise I wont shout at you, although, I will gently encourage you to find an alternative!
Now I can understand why micellar water may be a preferred method of cleansing to many as some may see it as a “quick and easy” step. But think of it like this. Would you expect to see chiselled abs after a “quick and easy” 10 minute workout? I mean, it would be great 😂 but, 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵! Real results require dedication, patience, monetary investment and time investment. 𝘈 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘧𝘪𝘹 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘴.
Some brands of micellar waters tend to be full of alcohol (𝘺𝘶𝘱, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘥𝘳𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯), fragrance (𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵) and harsh preservatives which basically prolong the shelf life of the product.
My biggest pet hate about micellar water is very similar to my issue with make-up wipes; 🙅🏻♀️you are just moving all the dirt and bacteria around on your skin. And as we already know, during the day our skin is exposed to external factors such as smoke, smog and pollutants. If you don’t thoroughly remove all of this bacteria from the skin, your basically asking the universe for breakouts and congestion.
By providing an improper cleanse, it will leave an oily residue which will also prevent any products you apply afterwards to not penetrate properly.
This is why it is essential to 𝘈𝘓𝘞𝘈𝘠𝘚 do a double cleanse. The first cleanse should be a gentle cleanse to take off the day, followed by your second cleanse which may contain AHAs/BHAs to help provide a deeper cleanse and remove any build up of dead skin.
Cleansing plays a big role of skin health and it is important to know that not one size fits all. So if you are unsure what type of cleanser is most suitable for your skin, as always, feel free to comment below or drop me a message! - 7 minutes ago
