1 June 2020 - Beer #108
Corona Day #81
Brewery: Seven Stills Brewery
Location: San Francisco, CA
Style: American Wild Ale
Acquired from Tavour in a subscription box
Description: "You know, I like my mimosa with mostly champagne, and just a *kiss* of OJ... Let's make that!" A TRIPLE kettle sour at 11.5%, with champagne grape juice, fresh blood orange and tangerine purees, dried out by the amylase enzyme used in sparkling bruts, and just the lightest sprinkle of salt. This. Beer. Tastes. Like. A. Mimosa! From the sprightly bubbles and fresh citrus juiciness, all the way down to the dry, tart notes clinging to retro-nasal aromas of sparkling white wine as it leaves your palate.
Appearance: 4 - a pale yellow-orange. Not much head, but pretty good lacing.
Nose: 4 - pretty light and fruity. Maybe even a little nutty.
Taste: 3 - I get it. It's supposed to taste like a cocktail, and it does. So they definitely nailed what they were trying to accomplish. Perhaps it wasn't the best plan, though. Plenty boozy, modestly sour.
Mouth: 4 - quite thick, despite the appearance. Bubbly for sure.
Overall: 4 - I was concerned I would hate it. The subscription box from Tavour was too good to pass up, and this was probably the dud of the batch. I accept.
