Our children see us through innocent eyes. Non judging. They love us just the way we are. Sometimes it's good to see yourself through their eyes. 
We all have our faults and flaws and things we want to change but it doesnt hurt to acknowledge that for that little person you are everything and perfect just the way you are. 
As much as I have things I want to change and work on, I am proud to say I think I am a good mum, a good role model and I will lead by example. Self praise is hard but it's not wrong, we owe it to ourselves to recognise our strengths as well as our weaknesses... Cuddles with my little man mean the world!

Just like we’re told not to let our children get overtired, we need to have that same respect for ourselves. Your mind and body are intrinsically connected, and when you don’t allow yourself time to quiet your body you end up pushing it into overdrive.⁣⁣⁣

I don’t know about you, but some days when I just take a few moments to quite my mind, sit and breath, rest my eyes, or drink some coffee in silence I tend to feel a little more grounded and recharged to get through the day.⁣⁣⁣

“It’s easy to beat up on yourself. It’s easy to compare your weaknesses to the strengths of others. It’s easy to neglect the good things you are doing. Don’t forget how far you’ve come, how strong you’ve gotten, and that you’re capable to do anything you set your mind to.”

For whatever reason it is our human nature to dwell on the things we failed at, struggled doing or messed up. But when we do great things we brush it off like it’s no big deal, like “nah, it was just a good day.” And not giving ourselves any of the credit we might deserve. I think it’s very possible to stay humble and also give yourself the praise you deserve for the great things you’re doing in life.

- Depression - ED (will not specify for others.) - SH - Vision  impairment 
All things I fight everyday and I know many others do as well. Every disorder, every condition matters and is valid. Everyone is allowed a bad day as long as they are given a chance for a better day.

Saturday night, a beautiful day for December, chilly but the sun was shining. The hustle and bustle of Crete Country Christmas was upon us today. With the smell of hot chocolate, baked goods, and pine in the air. The town was busy. Tonight after carefully choosing my Christmas relaxing attire, drawing a warm detoxing salt bath and preparing and avocado asparagus salad. I sat quietly on my comfy,warm couch gazing out my window. Watching the Christmas parade and just breathing and sipping tea, taking it all in and enjoying the peace and quiet. And the beauty of the parade lights.

As a society we accept many eating disorders as a mental health issue; however obesity is still seen as a combination of laziness and greed and nothing more. 
If I went to the doctors and was diagnosed as anorexic then I would be recommended therapy or counselling. But as someone who is overweight, at best you get pointed towards a local weightloss group...and that's it. It's pot luck if you get the mental support you need at that group to  heal and make life long changes. The problem is in most cases a diet or weightloss group is a sticking plaster for a much deeper rooted problem. A problem that needs to be treated as any other mental health condition would be. Diets only feed and nurture the underlying problems.

Sadly mental health support is stretched to its limits, expensive and often too daunting to persue for anyone who needs it. The problem is that simply recommending someone with obesity to cut calories/exercise more/join a diet group etc is not the answer. You wouldn't tell someone with anorexia to 'just eat more' and expect that to cure them so why does saying 'just eat less' seem like the solution to obesity?

There is more to obesity than laziness and greed...very few people actually WANT to be lazy and greedy. They are the symptoms of an eating disorder and should be treated as such
