I've created this new page to be a medium by which I can engage primarily my reformed Christian Brothers and sisters on the topic of the practice of Polygyny (plural wives) within the context of Christian Life.
I am first and foremost a Christian, wholly devoted to Christ as my Savior, who purchased my life at the cross, and through His Spirit regenerated my dead heart and has been transforming my life through His sanctifying work since that time. •
I hold closely to the historic Reformed confessions (Heidelberg, Belgic, Dort), I have great respect and align closely with most tenets of the 1646 Westminster Confession and the 1689 London Baptist Confession. I also have drawn much from the 39 Articles. These all, though having many merits, are subservient to Scripture insofar as their authority pertains. I hold to the 5 Solas of the Reformation. It is for this reason, specifically Sola Scriptura, that I have been confronted with, challenged, and ultimately persuaded to affirm Polygyny as a legitimate and Godly form of marriage covenant (no more so inherently than a monogamous covenant). •
Through my posts on this page, I will attempt to systematize why and how I've come to that conclusion.
For the record, I do not practice and currently have no intention of practicing this lifestyle. •
Let it be noted that though I have come to this conclusion, if there is conclusive Biblical evidence for me to change my position on this, I will gladly repent and return to a monogamous hetero only view. I have been challenged on many of my views over the course of my life, and with convincing Biblical evidence, I have changed my position. This is how I went from a semi-pelagian view that I held for much of my life to the Reformed position, after much thought, debate, study, prayer, and honesty. •
