Our applied research with microfluidic technologies, such as Organs-on-Chips, can enable treatments and cures to be  available to the general public, expeditiously. By replacing cruel, unnecessary, rarely accurate, and often more costly non-human animal testing, we can have more accurate results by using human-derived cells and tissues and - via the microfluidic technologies in these Organs-on-Chips - engaging in biomimicry (which mimics cells' and organoids' responses to conditions, pharmaceutical products, herbs, food, potential pathogens, etc. Withal, we could biomimic diseases that afflict people. In contrast to petri dishes alone, this enables us to view the biomechanics of cellular reactions to conditions, and pharmaceuticals or other plausible treatments.

In lieu of 12-15 hours per day of applied laboratory research and peer-reviewed scientific  research of the scientific literature, we have been allocating 18-20 hours of our time, due to currently only operating with 25% of our staff and volunteers, due to the current pandemic. 
Observed in the video are multi-organ versions of  Organs-on-Chips apparatuses, which we used and captured in the video, from the following companies: TissUse GmbH, Emulate, Inc., and CN-Bio.

The application of Hololens technology in surgery is already part of our reality. In the UK it is already happening. A team at Imperial College London are wearing HoloLens devices in operating theatres so they can spot key blood vessels, bones and muscles, making procedures quicker and safer.

HoloLens allows the surgeons to take CT scans that have previously been completed and overlay 3D digital models of them onto a patient’s limb during reconstructive surgery.

The technique has been used to help surgeons successfully move blood vessels from one part of the body to another to help open wounds heal. Patients have included a 41-year-old man who injured his leg in a car crash, an 85-year-old woman who fractured her fibula and a person who developed an infection that required surgery. Patients who have suffered an accident may have open wounds that require reconstructive surgery. Skin and blood vessels are taken from a healthy part of the body and used to cover the wound, enabling it to close and heal properly.

A vital step in the process is connecting the blood vessels of the “new” tissue with those at the site of the wound, so oxygenated blood can reach the area.

CT scans are conducted on the patient to map the limb before the operation begins. These are then uploaded to HoloLens, which places the images on top of the patient. Multiple surgeons wearing HoloLens headsets can also see what their colleagues are specifically looking at, allowing greater collaboration.

Surgeons have traditionally used a handheld ultrasound scanner to find vessels under the skin by detecting the movement of blood. Koronavirüs salgınının Türkiye'de de görülmesinin ardından TOGÜ Mühendislik ve Doğa Bilimleri Fakültesi Biyomühendislik Bölümü, koronavirüs tanı kitinde kullanılan enzimlerin üretimi için çalışmalara başladı. Teknopark iş birliği ve TÜBİTAK Marmara Araştırma Merkezi (MAM) ile koordineli bir şekilde çalışmalara başlanmasından 2 hafta sonra koronavirüs tanısında kullanılan Revers Transkriptaz ve DNA Polimeraz enzimleri, rekombinant DNA teknolojisi kullanılarak üretildi. Üretilen 2 enzim yerli ya da başka bir firmanın kitinde kullanılacak.

Pazartesi günü TUBİTAK ve MAM'daki arkadaşlarımıza göndereceğiz. Şu anda bizim enzimler kullanılarak, 10 bin ile 20 bin arası kit üretilebilir. Bir hafta içerisinde firmalar istesin 1 milyon kiti üretebilecek enzimleri rahat bir şekilde saflaştırarak gönderebiliriz. Şu anda arkadaşlarımız çalışıyorlar. Bu cihazlar çok az bir laboratuvarda var. Bu enzimleri üretmemiz toplam 2 hafta sürdü. 2 hafta içerisinde o enzimi araştırma safhasına başladık. Zaten üretmiştik ama çok az safhadaydı. Proteini saflaştırma sıkıntıları vardı. Onları gidererek kullanıma hazır halde yerli, milli olarak diğer laboratuvarımızda bakterileri yetiştiriyoruz. Orada parçalıyoruz. Çeşitli işlemlerden geçirdikten sonra en son saflaştırma işlemlerini burada yapıyoruz.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new total wrist replacement device for people seeking relief from painful arthritis. The design is the culmination of three decades of award-winning research by Scott Wolfe, D..
The HSS Innovation Institute worked closely with Drs. Wolfe and Crisco to obtain a patent for their research and design ideas. “We believe the new wrist replacement, known as the KinematX™ Total Wrist Implant, has advantages over traditional implants,” said Dr. Wolfe, chief emeritus of the Hand and Upper Extremity Service at HSS. “Our extensive research into how the wrist moves helped us design a replacement that more closely matches the anatomy and motion of a normal wrist. This should allow for more natural motion and increased durability compared to currently available implants.”
“Most people are familiar with total joint replacement in the knee or hip, which is much more common and highly successful,” said Dr. Wolfe. “Total wrist joint replacement has not enjoyed the same degree of success. Historically, some studies demonstrate failure rates of near 50% within 5 to 10 years, mainly due to loosening of implant components.” Wrist replacement surgery with the KinematX™ will be performed on an outpatient basis. Dr. Wolfe says he already has a waiting list of individuals who are good candidates. A patient registry will be established at HSS and other leading medical centers across the country to track data on outcomes.

It astonishes me that especially the conservative media has completely overlooked this incredibly important news coming out of Denmark. It astonishes me that especially the conservative media has completely overlooked this incredibly important news coming out of Denmark. Hi everybody!  I am currently working on my #biomedicalengineering #blog project. It is quite ready, only need to add the final details and I will be realeasibg the first #articles regularly. 
The main idea is to have a space of #biomedical #divulgation , with my point of view of biomedicine, some #advices based on my experience, articles related to each field of biomedicine, interesting news and a few interviews. I will also put tge link to my #artificial intelligence portfolio as I develop it! 
In the end the idea is to #share and #learn with the community.
