They say, "When you're treated right, everyday is Valentine's Day." I say that's the biggest crock I've ever heard. You don't get along everyday. You don't celebrate your love everyday. You damn sure don't make love everyday. Hell, some days it can feel like one of you is making war, in a sense. But those of us who live in reality know this.
And because of this, no, we don't necessarily *need* a day to celebrate the long talks about our dreams, the baring of our souls, the people-watching dates, the inside jokes, the hours of laughter, the smile in the eye contact, the peace found in the closeness of the knit of the fabric that we've woven together, the nightly snuggles or the daily kisses, the silent, "I love yous," or the ones that are shouted from the mountaintops.
When you're treated right, Valentine's Day is still Valentine's Day, and the days before and after it will be all the days before and after it. And whether you choose to celebrate it or not it doesn't really matter, because you're still being treated right. But sometimes, it's nice to have a day to be extra and know that a bajillion others are being extra right along with you. It can be nice to part of something bigger than your bubble (and I don't wanna hear shit about capitalism 😒). It can be nice to have a reason and not even need the reason. --
To all the lovers, be it a Valentine's Day or a random Tuesday, keep showing your love. Never stop! To the love-haters, somebody loves you, baby. It ain't me tho. 😂😂
