“Not Forever, Not for Everyone” (Equality, Justice, Freedom, Liberty)
Ceramic Earthenware, 16 ½ inches (42 cm) each, 4 Total, 2016-2017
“The objective of this ceramic series of serving platters or plates is to illuminate the disparity of ideology of basic principles established by the founding fathers of the USA, shedding light on the dividing practices of the functioning government in today's social climate. The project highlights the systematic inequalities in serving these basic human rights to its people.
The accompanying notion of a feast, a welcome gathering and meal, is a worldwide one in which every culture participates. It’s an occasion acknowledged as non-judgmental, a humbled act of thankfulness. It is an event filled with tolerance and inclusion. However, with intolerant attendants controlling the rations of these courses, we learn the buffet is not for everyone.
This series continues to find new relevance and life at each civil uprising across America. The rationing of these celebrated freedoms becomes more illuminated with each incident of violated civil rights.
The inevitable pursuit of equality, liberty, freedom, and justice for all continues.”
