Look in the mirror and tell that gorgeous hunk flesh “We’ve gotten this far without giving up, let’s see this through....together.” Going from self acceptance to like, then love takes time. Three health/fitness things about me + three non health/fitness things about me..because it feels like a good time for an introduction of who I am + what you'll see in these little squares I share. °
1. I have #hashimotos and have managed it through diet/lifestyle changes better than medication did.
2. My favorite type of exercise is lifting weights. I so badly wanted to be a powerlifter but my hormones and autoimmune disease weren't having it🙄
3. I am a certified Integrative nutrition health coach through @nutritionschool and own my own practice Holistically Restored. Come see me!
°
Non health/fitness facts:
1. I'm first generation Greek (most people know this but it's such a huge part of who I am that I can't NOT mention it). Yes, I'm bilingual. No, I don't use windex for every ailment.
2. I am definitely an extrovert, but love to recharge at home while watching The Office or Schitt's Creek.
3. Listening to music is a huge part of my day. If I'm not listening, I'm (horribly) singing some song.
°
BONUS- I LOVE BEING SOCIAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA so definitely say hi!!

Creating an office space for my holistic health coaching business has been an experience I'm really grateful for. These pictures and the 2 videos show the progression of what it looked like when I got the keys and to present day. Without my parents, siblings, husband, friends and clients, this would probably not exist or I'd still be in a corner somewhere crying. 😅 Still have some work to do but this is where I see my clients and where events/workshops will happen. More details of this under "My Office Space Highlights" on my page. Looking forward to welcoming you to the Open House on 2.29.2020. 🎉

I was going to write this long caption about how hard it is to be a business owner due to the struggle of knowing I need to rest but also having so much to do..oh, and having Hashimoto's on top of all that. But all I really need to focus on right now is gratitude. So there's that. Gratitude is usually always the solution to these these of situations.

Hectic seasons of life- we all experience them. But how do we handle ourselves through them? Earlier, I mentioned I prioritize 4 things when I find myself saying, "this is too much."
°
Nutrition- meal prep, delegate meal prep to someone else, reduce processed foods, order a meal prep service..do what you gotta do. Also incorporate some supplements like magnesium, vitamin D, and adaptogens. °
Sleep- electronics off at least 30 minutes before bed, journal at the end of the day, wear blue light blockers at sundown, get 7-9 hours.
°
Stress management- pray, deep breaths, journal, call a friend, walk outdoors ❄, listen to music.
°
Movement- continue working out but not overdoing it. This might look like reducing reps or sets, but I continue to get movement in daily.
°
Aside from that, I trim the fat. I do the necessary tasks and I don't over book myself. What do you do when life gets hectic? Let me know👇

I was NOT FUNCTIONALLY PROPERLY for nearly 10 years prior to diving into holistic/integrative health. Because of my obsessive outlook on food, I would go through swings where I'd gain/lose weight within weeks. This meant I had unstable blood sugars, suboptimal thyroid health, #pcos, and sleep disorders.
°
There's a lot of people who are "anti-diet" and I can understand that perspective, but we are all bio-individual. I needed to make dietary changes to improve my #hashimotos, adrenal issues, sleep disorders, and #pcos. if I hadn't made those changes, I would not be healthy from a functional perspective. °
Knowing the time and place to diet responsibly is key. Work with a certified health professional who considers things like stress management, sleep hygiene, hormones, thyroid, and movement 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ before jumping into a "diet."

Please understand that being diagnosed with PCOS does not mean it's a life sentence. Find out the cause of your PCOS and work with a functional practitioner to reverse it. I thought I would always have PCOS until I learned more about it and started to treat the cause rather than the symptoms. °
Don't know what I'm talking about? Read through the last few posts to understand how to diagnose and find out your type of PCOS.

Sure, past experiences shape the way we react to things in life, but we ultimately have the choice as to how we react TODAY. You can choose to change or you can stay the same. It's up to you.

I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago and I had no idea what it meant! Every woman I talk to in my coaching practice either has PCOS or knows someone who has it. What exactly is it, though? How can you diagnose it? Let's dive in..
°
PCOS, polycystic ovarian syndrome, is a group of symptoms that many women are diagnosed with each year. These symptoms are related to anovulation (lack of ovulation) and a high level of male hormones called androgens.
°
PCOS' main problem is with ovulation and that's why women who truly have PCOS have an overproduction of androgens such as testosterone, androstenedione, and DHEAS. Don't worry ladies- we need male hormones, too. It's not yucky. They actually help libido, bone health and mood. That issue arises when we have high levels of these male hormones which can lead to acne, hair loss and hirsutism (that extra hair growth on face and body).
°
Symptoms, diagnosing and managing PCOS is something we'll explore in the future, so make sure you understand what PCOS is before we dive a little deeper. Specific questions on PCOS? Let me know in the comments of send me a DM!

This picture doesn't match my overall feed, but I don't care. I used to ALWAYS take pictures in the gym and locker room (like from 2014-2017) because I used them to "compare progress" aka beat myself up.
°
I don't workout to hit PRs every week or to be the smallest version of myself like I used to. °
I workout now because I'm capable and it's good for me. It's taken a little over a year to stop obsessing over being the strongest and smallest girl in the gym to simply brag about it on social media. But to be honest, I still care about being *semi strong.*
°
I took this picture because I noticed how refreshed I felt after lifting weights and I wanted to document the moment. Could it be? Can I really workout simply because I like it and not need to destroy my body over hitting a PR ? °
Working through false expectations we place on ourselves around exercise is something I do with my clients. As females, we tend to get twisted perceptions of proper exercise and we need to get educated on how that impacts our hormones and overall health. Overtraining and undereating might sound like it will fix your problem, but it won't. Contact me through the link in my bio to set up a consultation today.

Minimum Daily Actions “MDA’s” are your weight loss journey bridge to happiness!

Ever feel like you’re not successful when it comes to following your plan? Or worse, not sure what success even looks like? When setting ANY goal, you should always be able to ask yourself “Did I exceed (insert goal)?”, then answer it with a “yes” or “no”. Most of the time, people aren’t setting Y/N goals or are setting them too high. That second one is the real killer.

If you’re not setting yourself up to exceed goals, you’ll constantly be stretching for them. Why is that bad? Aren’t we supposed to challenge ourselves? Yes but. You should stretch your performance, exceeding the goal in the process. Not stretching your goals, then trying to reach them. That leads to inconsistency and consistency is what determines success with any weight loss plan. STRETCH THE EXECUTION, NOT THE GOAL.

Here are Some foundational MDA’s to get you started. Do they look easy? That’s the idea. 😉
