IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND LOVE AND SUPPORT OTHERS REGARDLESS OF ANY/ALL RACIAL AND ETHNIC DIFFERENCES.
.
ALTHOUGH WE ARE ALL PRODUCTS OF OUR FAMILIAL UPBRINGING AND SOCIOECONOMIC ENVIRONMENTS OF CHILDHOOD, THERE'S NO EXCUSE TO REMAIN ALLEGIANT TO A CULTURE OF HATE, AND ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE ABHORRENT PRACTICES OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, DERAGATORY STEREOTYPING, WHITE PRIVILEGE SUPREMACY, AND RELATED ACTS AND BEHAVIOR. .
THE DECISION TO SEE PAST COLOR, AND INSTEAD LOOK INTO THE HEART OF YOUR FELLOW WOMAN AND MAN IS A POWER YOU HAVE TO CHANGE ANYTIME -- IT SIMPLY COMES DOWN TO WHETHER YOU WANT TO EVOLVE INTO A BETTER VERSION OF YOURSELF.
.
NOW LET THAT SINK IN.

THIS IS WHAT IS ACTUALLY MEANT BY THE EXPRESSION OF "WHITE PRIVILEGE". AND I WOULD HOPE MOST WOULD AGREE THIS IS INDEED AN UNFORTUNATE, YET FACTUAL STATE OF BEING IN THE UNITED STATES AND ACROSS MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD. .
WHEN THOSE IN POSITIONS OF PRIVILEGE SPEAK OUT AGAINST RACIAL DIVISIVENESS AND DISCRIMINATION, OUR NATION HEALS AND WE ALL MOVE FORWARD WITH A MORE PROMISING FUTURE TOGETHER.

78 years ago on this day, President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, authorizing the removal of any people of Japanese ancestry—both "alien and non-alien"—from vaguely defined "military areas." By June 1942, more than 110,000 Japanese Americans were forcibly removed from their homes and imprisoned in concentration camps. By the time these families were allowed to leave the camps and return to their homes, more than 1,800 had died due to medical issues and lack of adequate medical care; the families that did leave the camps were never the same.

Today we remember those who were forever impacted by this dark time in our nation's history, and we honor the memories of those who lost their lives. #regram @octportland

Slave. Nurse. Philanthropist. Los Angeles Land Baron. Multi-millionaire

I first learned of Biddy Mason while producing stories about Afro-Mexicans of Los Angeles. (You can look up a story I pitched, shot, directed and co-produced for @ajplus on Facebook--four million views plus)
Her slave owners made the mistake of moving to California---a state where slavery was illegal.- Those same slave owners thought she would delight in the possibility of moving on to Texas--a slave state.

Biddy said hell to the no and then had to fight for her freedom, and the freedom of her three children, in court.

She won and went on to work as a nurse. She saved her money and began investing in property in downtown Los Angeles. She amassed a fortune estimated at $3 million that she generously shared as she visited prisoners, fed the poor and helped start LA's first AME church.
So what does that have to do with Afro-Mexicans.

Well it seems she was a frequent dinner guest of Pio Pico, California's last governor under Mexican rule

Well Pio Pico was Afro-Mexican. So every time you drive on Pico Boulevard in LaLa, well you are rolling on a street named in honor of an Afro-Mexican.

This painting is part of a watercolor series I have painted. I am calling it Like a Boss.

My artwork is available via @societysix nozizweoriginals

From @bellevueleader ▶︎ As part of Black History Month, @bellevueuniversity will display information about notable African American members of the Omaha community. Students can fill out a form of information about the notable figures and enter a contest to win a copy of @omahaworldherald "24th & Glory – The Intersection of Civil Rights and Omaha’s Greatest Generation of Athletes."

Ella Baker (1903 – 1986) was a American community organizer and political activist who brought her skills and principles to bear in the major civil rights organizations of the mid-20th century. Ella Josephine Baker was born on December 13, 1903, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Georgiana and Blake Baker and first raised there. Her mother decided to take the family to North Carolina while their father continued to work for the steamship company. Ella was seven when they returned to her mother's rural hometown near Littleton, North Carolina. Ella attended Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and graduated with valedictorian  honors. Baker worked as editorial assistant at the Negro National News. She also worked for the Worker's Education Project of the Works Progress Administration, established under President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. Baker taught courses in consumer education, labor history, and African history. She immersed herself in the cultural and political milieu of Harlem in the 1930s. In 1938 Baker began her long association with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which was then based in New York City. In December 1940 she started work there as a secretary. Baker criticized professionalized, charismatic leadership; she promoted grassroots organizing,  radical democracy, and the ability of the oppressed to understand their worlds and advocate for themselves. She realized this vision most fully in the 1960s as the primary advisor and strategist of the SNCC. She has been ranked as "One of the most important black leaders of the twentieth century and perhaps the most influential woman in the civil rights movement." #blackhistory #ellabaker #activist #civilrights

Social Media is overflowing with absolute idiot's, who deliberately ignore things like history and or facts. All these mouth breathers are so pissed that Trump has granted Pardons and Clemency over the past 3 years to a whopping total of 29 people. But these Liberals and Dumbass Democrats didn't speak out when Obama commuted Bradley "Chelsa" Manning prison sentence from 35 years to 7 years, literally 3 days before he left office in 2017. Probably because he is transgendered. But let's not pick on Obama who almost had the highest number of Pardons at 1,937, even though he holds the record for most clemency on a single day at 330 the day before he left office( kinda fishy). Let's look at some other Democrats who hold the record like Franklin D. Roosevelt who pardon 2,819. Or who came in 3rd another Democrat Harry S. Truman at 1,913. Or what about Jimmy Carter who pardon over 100,000 draft dodgers. We get it you all hate Trump, even tho his First Step Prison Reform Act set free 3,100 prisoners alot who had bullcrap drug charges. #wethepeople need to #wakethefuckup and see that the #dumbassdemocrats are literally the #enemy, hell bent on destroying the #usconstitution and #americanwayoflife. #freedomisntfree we need to come together and #votethemout. CHM’s latest #GoogleArtsandCulture exhibit explores the life of Rev. Joseph H. Jackson, a 20th century #civilrights leader, long-serving National Baptist Convention president, and head pastor of Chicago’s Olivet Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. Like his contemporary Martin Luther King Jr., Jackson’s activism focused on education, housing, and political and economic equality for #AfricanAmericans, but unlike King, Jackson believed that social change should be pursued democratically through law and order rather than nonviolent civil disobedience and direct action. #LinkInBio #BlackHistoryMonth

"Any attorney general who is not an activist is not doing his or her job."

Eric Holder Jr. was the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and the 1st African American to hold the position (and under our 1st African American President, Barack Obama). He is a man that I admire, not only because he's an attorney, but because he truly stood up for our people at all levels of his career.

After his 6-year tenure as Attorney General, he returned to practicing law and is a partner at Covington & Burling, LLP in Washington, DC. He IS Black History.

He IS Black History. #ericholderjr #blackhistory #bhm2020 #brittanyherndonesq #washingtondc #covingtonburling #cochranfirm #justice #attorneygeneral #civilrights #blacklawyersmatter #representation #activism - 43 minutes ago
