LETTING CHANGE RUN ITS COURSE
musingsofthebodhi. Apr 06
It is no doubt that the grounds on which I mark my existence today include - a moral code of conduct, a family obligation and finally a social obligation. And yesterday when I wrote about letting change run its course over our choices, I realize I can no longer continue to exist within these shells and give in to these false fetishes or pretenses of my true existence. "A big part of change comes when we let our educated masses open doors of possibilities for those less fortunate." I spent a big part of my schooling, learning about different subjects, each of which had or has some significance in my telling today. But I will also not shy away from saying how little they had to contribute to my mental makeup, my family's conduct of my own upbringing and a society that has time and again contributed both - in a positive and a negative manner. Yes, as I grew up, I was able to distinguish the thick and thin of things around, but I could never let go of some of the experiences (both good and mostly bad) while growing up. Come to think of it, I have become all of what I thought of myself in my indigenous years - both good and bad.
The point I am trying to make is, while education played one part, the contribution of both, family and society, played their equal part in laying the foundation of who I am today. Today when I observe some of my thinking patterns, and I wouldn't say, I am completely oblivious to all that is happening inside me, I can clearly tell that it is not in the best interest of myself, let alone the greater good of the society or this planet as a whole. The harsh truth about myself today is, that I am well-educated only to point where religious predicaments take precedence over my moral code of conduct, my social obligations, and most importantly far to fewer contributions to the betterment of this planet as a human being.
