@analogwine - fascinated by the ancient traditions of Georgian winemaking, in 2017 Andy Buchan buried two Georgian Qvevri in the ferrous clay soils of the Symphonia vineyard in Victoria’s King Valley - taking the ever popular expression “wines made in the vineyard” to a whole new meaning!
Qvevri, or kvevri as the name is also written, are large, egg-shaped terracotta clay pots used for the fermentation and maturation of wine. To this day, qvevri are constructed using some of the original techniques developed with the birth of pottery many thousands of years ago - a vinous art that has been adorned across a period of approximately 8000 years.
All ferments are wild with full vinification and maturation are completed in said Qvevri. The resulting wines are resurrected and bottled without the addition of S02. #comingsoon #drinknatural #vinnaturel #naturalwine #georgianwine #qvevri - 3 minutes ago
