New Year, New Me! Ok, I hate that phrase so much and I think regular New Years Resolutions are not the best for people.
Why? Because people usually will set impossible goals that they almost never follow through with OR because they only try to make change on this random day of the year. BUT, I like New Years Reflections. Not that you need to only do this around January 1st nor should it only happen once a year, but I find it a really convenient time to reflect on how things are going.
I do actually set goals for myself, but ACHIEVABLE ones. During the year and then of course the following year (in this cause, January 2021) I like to check in and keep myself accountable. How did things end up going? Did I achieve what I wanted to achieve? If not, why? Also, what did I learn in the process?
Here are my goals for the year: 1) Health - let me explain. No this isn’t just a “I want to loose weight” or “I want to go to the gym everyday”. This is an all encompassing “health” goal. I find myself often making excuses for not going to the gym or eating healthy because I’m too busy and in the middle of a project. I need to make my health a priority as much as my career. That goes for being better about going to doctor appointments. I need to go to the dentist but have been putting it off. I’m scheduling my cleaning TODAY. Also along with health is giving myself “me time”. I usually work 7 days a week and almost from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed. There is so much more to life than just work!
2) I am going to finish my book! Yes, you heard that right. I have been working on something special for you guys but I still need to put that extra time in to get it done. I’m so excited to share it with you, but don’t worry, more on this coming soon!
3) Adult More. K, I know this sounds lame but it’s something we all have to do at some point. I downloaded the Quickbooks app, I opened up an account on Acorns, and am planning for the future. I want to be very present this year and live in the now, but you do have to think of the future and plan for it.
