I was at a basketball game the other day and I could not help noticed this little boy who could not sit still. I mean, not just a hyper kid ( I have 5 of those) I mean uncontrollable!  Then I looked at what he was eating and drinking and my heart sank. ⁣

THIS IS A NO JUDGEMENT ZONE so I am NOT judging anyone but merely stating facts. ⁣
⁣
This little boy who could not have been older than 6 was drinking a full size gatorade (48 grams of sugar) and crushing away a bag of skittles (57 grams of sugar)  The recommended amount for children is no more than 25 grams a DAY.  The mother was out of her mind and then bribed him to behave if she got him a blow pop. ⁣
⁣
So you feed your kid the poison and then expect him not to behave like that? The SUGAR, FOOD DYES and UNFOOD LIKE ingredients are what is causing him to act like that. ⁣

I wish I could say this was an isolated incident, but its not.  I know of teachers that reward kids with candy in the classroom then send the kid down to the office for misbehavior.  I know parents who complain their kids are out of control and poorly behaved but cannot remember the last time a whole real food meal was served to them.  It’s out of control right now in America and these kids need our help.  Not by saying YES to them but us stepping up, being parents and saying NO to the poisons that are harming our children. ⁣

I am not a medical professional. If you have serious concerns about beginning the Daniel Fast, please consult your primary doctor. I have one the Daniel Fast on and off for over 10 years. Sometimes it has been great and sometimes not so much. The greatest experiences during the fast have come from the time spent in prayer and studying the Word, and honestly have had very little to do with the food. This is a personal choice between you and God, there is no condemnation for those who are Christ, so it is totally OK if you decide not to begin a year with a fast. I have seen some negative consequences during the Daniel fast and I have lived them. The saddest one is being unkind to my family members just because I am ”hangry”. But all these things I share are important to consider. Often diets, detox and other rigid eating plans will distract us so much, that they will take us further away from God and not closer to Him. Pray about all of this.
