Do you observe Lent?
I always struggle with what to give up for this occasion, and I’ve often chosen to focus on giving up sweets or fatty foods, choosing to deprive myself as part of my observation.
These days, though, I’m seeing things quite a bit differently.
I don’t think I need to deprive myself - ever! An occasional treat is all part of my nutrition plan, and I really do enjoy them!
So this year, I’m choosing instead to focus on doing something positive and renewing my energy levels. And crazy enough - one of the things that energizes me and brings me peace is a clean space. So this year: I am decluttering!!
We have just accumulated so much unnecessary junk and since our lives are so crazy busy, it’s so disorganized around here - piles of junk, drawers overflowing, and honestly, we just have a lot of stuff we don’t even need!!
Can you relate??
And here’s the thing - a massive Spring Cleaning Project just isn’t in the cards for me. I don’t have the time!!
But, breaking it down into small, manageable tasks is doable! So, for the next 40 days, I’ll be focusing on decluttering - competing one of these actions every day:
🧼 10-20 minute smaller organization tasks - like cleaning out this cabinet that was filled to the brim when I started!
👚 Donating items, such as cleaning out my closet or send the extra unused blender I have had for over year to the local Goodwill
🗑 Tossing those “I’ll fix it one day” items once and for all. Why am I hanging onto this stuff??
Decluttering brings me peace and happiness, and for me, that’s what brings me closer to God. And I’m doing good for others!
