Making better food choices for our health, potential offspring (our life goal is to reproduce not longevity FYI but does not mean it can not be a goal :-)) and our environment does not require a PhD or Masters Degree.⠀

I find it pretty shocking sometimes whilst I am out and about in London having to fork out £15+ for a single meal consisting of a salad box + soup + something sweet or a smoothie.⠀

Instead of complaining I take action in my own hands and meal prep 90% of the time. I do not restrict myself from eating out but save it for once per week, perhaps specifically for a food I want to try or too lazy to cook or prep such as razor clams etc.⠀
Eating out and socialising with family / friends is another important component which we have been doing for a longggg time too.⠀

Perhaps the question should also be, why is the burger so cheap? 🙄⠀

I do not mind departing my money for quality + sustainable produce which is being invested back into our soil (the fundamental base of our food chain) and direct to the producer.⠀

I find it puzzling that we are discouraged from the ground up from schools to work place to government to make better decisions with incentives / education / open public access gyms / farmers markets / allotments / food waste etc.⠀

Ciao io sono Teresa e nella vita faccio la dietista.
Ma a forza di studiare e vedere gente che arriva da mille altri colleghi e si ritrova sempre impantanata nei soliti circoli viziosi, col tempo ho iniziato a pensare seriamente che “fare diete” non sia di nessun aiuto verso il cambiamento alimentare delle persone.
Anzi, in certi casi (la gran parte ahimè) lo schema dietetico è l’inizio di un cattivo modo di alimentarsi, centrato sulla prescrizione e non su cosa davvero il corpo/mente del paziente necessita.
Promuovere uno stile alimentare e di vita sano non è facile, soprattutto in questo momento storico in cui siamo sospinti da correnti di salutismo esasperato, mode alimentari svariate, componenti ideologiche molto radicate e bufale sul cibo di ogni tipo.
In mezzo a tutte queste informazioni è facile perdere quello che conta di più: il mio corpo di cosa ha bisogno adesso?

Per il 2020 il mio buon proposito è quello di orientarmi sempre di più sulla persona e sul suo cambiamento, per abbandonare sempre di più “le diete”.
Intanto ringrazio tutti quelli che mi stanno aiutando lungo questo faticoso percorso: in prima linea @dallagassacinzia_bewellsrl col suo preziosissimo Master “Professionista della nutrizione” che ho concluso poche settimane fa a Bologna e che mi ha dato gli strumenti per poter effettuare questo shift;
quindi @oltreladieta per il suo attivismo qui su Ig, i consigli preziosi e il corso che non vedo l’ora di seguire a marzo; @dietista_veronica_bignetti anche lei conosciuta tramite Ig e fonte di grande ispirazione; @dr.eva_lanche da cui apprendo sempre tantissimo e la prima da cui ho sentito parlare di #fattalk.
Ho ancora tante persone da ringraziare ma per oggi basta così 😉

Well, first I want to say congrats to my client @tjcline3 for graduating from my coaching program!

He lost a total of 12.4 lbs and 24 inches!! Boom!!!

Let me tell you about Tim... See, he is one of the hardest workers I have EVER seen. He came to me with a host of issues he has been dealing with over the years. Cancer AND crohn's.. You read that right. Both!

Knowing that, you can see how staying on a "plan" would have been difficult. His energy levels were up and down, appetite was all over the place, he was in and out of the doctor's office, he tried multiple different cocktails and infusions, etc... All of this yet he still found the strength to get in workouts and focus on simple habits to be as healthy as he could be.

He truly was an inspiration to me and it made me realize that I have nothing to complain about. Yet, he even said, "Nobody has it easier or harder in life." Coming from him I thought that he was crazy, but talk about a GREAT mindset.

If your situation is challenging and you are struggling to find motivation, the key will be to keep  it simple. We focused on simple habits throughout the program. Eating slowly, eating to 80% full, eating protein at each meal, etc... This formed the foundation of his eating. Simple and effective. Pick ONE of these and get to work:)

Comp day! 
for myself obviously this was only a qualification event, so not particularly interesting and had no intention to put up any interesting numbers. However for the team this was an immensely successful day.
A huge thank you to both @farrow_james and @platesandpeaches Who handled through the day along with myself for the women in the afternoon. Between us we took home best lifters for men and women and all had a damn good time doing it. 
This was also a debut performance for @charmacpt to take to the @gbpowerfed platform after having completed only six weeks ago I think it’s safe to say things were pretty promising.
The only elements of my performance I will really be talking about will be making weight which will go up on my story this evening just to give a little insight into the process and how easy things can be without impacting performance.

⚡Maintain a high protein/fat, low carb diet for 3-4 days. ⚡Perform heavy exercise during these 3-4 days to deplete glycogen stores. ⚡Then, eat a high carb, low protein/fat diet for 3 days while being inactive.

⚡Taper workouts from 90 mins to 40 mins for 3-4 days while eating a 50% carb diet. ⚡Follow this with two days of 20 min workouts while eating a 70% carb diet. ⚡Then, have a rest day prior to competition/event with a 70% carb diet.
