A little bit about 3 part breath mentioned in the nadi shodana poster. Part 1 of 3.
3 part breath is also known as yogic breathing. It deepens the breath and trains us to breathe using the diaphragm and into the whole of the lungs, eventually it may increase our lung capacity. Breathing is never something that should feel strained, always reduce the count if it does, and we are always aiming for an equal exhale. Counting helps us keep track of the length of the inhale and exhale and helps keep the mind focused on the breath.
In part one we either sit cross legged with long extended spine, lay in savasana or propped on pillows to support spine and neck (my personal favourite) and soften the belly, allowing it to rise and fall with the breath creating space in the abdomen for the air to rush in to 💨
Aiming to always breath through the nostrils because hey have some handy filters and prewarm the cold winter air for us. Have some vicks and tissues ready if you’re feeling stuffy - 22 minutes ago
