I met with my accountant today — hello tax season 👋🏻 — and as we sat there & talked numbers & financial planning & all of those things that my creative brain doesn’t always quite understand, I had this beautiful realization that as business owners we don’t HAVE to know and do and be it all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve really felt ridiculously overwhelmed or anxious over things like business taxes or managing the financial end of a business — I would doubt myself or become paralyzed by the fear that I didn’t “know enough” to do it well or make a good decision. (You know what I mean, right?? 😉) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So as I left the accountants office today, I jotted down these two takeaways: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1️⃣ SHIFT THAT MENTALITY — I can’t ever be everything & I shouldn’t strive after that. I can recognize my weaknesses & choose to lean more into my strengths — and allow someone else who is strong where I’m weak be my guide/help/support/etc.
2️⃣ SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO WILL GUIDE/HELP/SUPPORT — don’t be shy or too cheap or too proud or whatever it is that’s holding you back from receiving the help you need. Allow people who are skilled at what they do to help you show up for your strengths more effectively.
🗣 You hear me on this? Go ahead & tag someone in the comments below who has been that source of support and help for you in your business! Let’s thank them for being a part of our team! 🎉 - 8 minutes ago
