Official Week 3: Ironies:
First, as those who know me can confirm, that usually when the hour changes I take weeks, even months to change my clocks. Once I just left one for 6 months, figuring that eventually it would show the correct time! Yet yesterday, when time has become almost irrelevant, one of the first things I did was to put my living room clock forward. Has this crisis made me more aware of the passage of time perhaps? Certainly, the percentage of coronavirus deaths in my age group give me pause.
Second, I had just become accustomed to a new rhythm of life, remembering that I really began this a week before it became official. I've always been an early riser. I love the freshness & promise of early morning, and Iove to watch the sunrise. But getting up in the dark without that motivation had no appeal, and so I let myself fall into the flow of nature. Waking as the sun slid into my bedroom and going to bed (although to read) once night fell. Since it was early spring, and light at a reasonable hour, I enjoyed this, some days even turning over for an extra half hour, to be reawoken to a gorgeous stream of sunshine.
But now my rhythm is not liking waking at my accustomed hour and finding the apartment still in darkness. So until the earth turns a little more I have to find something to occupy that first morning hour! This said, I love change, for me it makes the world go round.
