With all this time on my hands I decided to learn to make Ukrainian Easter eggs with my grandmother’s kit. The eggs, also known as Pysanky are folk craft made by applying alternating layers of beeswax wax and dye to create complex patterns. The beeswax is applied with these funky little scribes you load with wax and hold on a candle female to keep hot.
It’s so funny, she was so organized and appears to have saved every Easter card newspaper clipping and card that featured them she ever came across. She also had books on the symbolism behind the eggs and the how to so after some light reading I am making a couple practice eggs today!
