January is almost over already- this winter semester is flying by! With the new year comes new years resolutions; specifically, the media's favorite resolution to sell:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dieting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's difficult to be so surrounded by diet culture, but the first few months of the new year are the worst I think. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember that it's okay to set boundaries! If friends or family or even classmates or coworkers start up a conversation with you and you're uncomfortable talking about their diet-- say that! It's okay to say "I don't really want to talk about dieting". It's okay to change the subject. And if it comes to it, it's okay to remove yourself from the conversation entirely. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
People aren't necessarily trying to trigger you or upset you when they talk about their new diet or their new gym membership- but it's okay if those aren't things you want to hear about. We all have different paths-- and that's okay

𝐄𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐬⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One thing I often get questions about or hear people debating is ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘵?”⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This is the wrong question to ask because there are hundreds of different training splits out there and they all work...but only if 𝐘𝐎𝐔 do!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
There have been 15 different Mr. Olympia’s throughout the years and guess what...none of them I guarantee followed the same training split. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Why is that?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s because different things work for different people depending on:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🔹age⁣⁣
🔸training history⁣⁣
🔹preferences⁣⁣
🔸time to devote to training⁣⁣
🔹recoverability⁣⁣
🔸role models they had growing up.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As a beginner I think an upper/lower split could be a good choice for a little while to help develop a base and get your body used to training. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
As you advance you may go to a P/P/L or a variation of that.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Then you might want to start concentrating on more specific days for body parts but that is once your physique has a solid base and has developed.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Understand what stage of your physique development you are currently in, honestly assess yourself as to whether you have exhausted everything with your nutrition and recovery before saying your progress has stalled, and then if you have it may be time to advance to a different level of training split. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Everything in bodybuilding, physique development, strength, athletics, life, and relationships is about stages...don’t try to jump stages to quick or you’re going to fall flat on your face.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣0️⃣ 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥⁣⁣

Just makes you wonder how many other women in the public eye are currently starving themselves to be ultra thin. Doing that is one thing but this is about the millions of young girls who look up to them, who follow them on Instagram, who want to emulate them, who are comparing their own normal body to their idol’s unrealistic body, and then starving themselves because they think they should be that thin too.
The influence of these famous women is enormous; the images they post on social media and the potential damage they cause cannot be underestimated.

It’s great that @taylorswift is speaking up about her experience and I hope it makes others such as @kyliejenner et al to take a long hard look at what messages and images they’re putting out and the devastating impact it’s having on women and young girls😔

Our bodies know what they need. We were all born with an intuition about what we need to survive. Food is essential fuel for our daily activities and our overall well-being.
The longer a person has engaged in an eating disorder, the more difficult it might feel to remember how to eat normally, or how normal eating even looks. Intuitive eating is learning to return to this innate wisdom of eating that we are all born with, but the journey takes time, healing, and practice. The longer a person has engaged in an eating disorder, the more difficult it might feel to remember how to eat normally, or how normal eating even looks. Intuitive eating is learning to return to this innate wisdom of eating that we are all born with, but the journey takes time, healing, and practice. It is important to be aware of these aspects without judgment and also to begin responding to and honoring what your body is needed. The more you begin to do this, the more you can learn to trust that your body does exactly know what you need. Intuitive eating has been associated with several markers of improved physical and psychological health.
But the most important thing is to remember that we all can do this no matter how hard it seems.

»Whenever if you are sad, just remember that there are billions of cells in your body and all they care about is you«

This quote is so true and the quote contains so much important information.
First of all our body is amazing.
He is able to do so many incredible things and we shout care about it more. Our body deserves a healthy life and not a always hungry and starved, broken body.
You have to imagine that you have prevailed against thousands of sperm and won. So you deserve to live and be happy and healthy!

The second point is that you are never alone and so many people
care and think of you. And you might not always notice that. But this is the truth. YOU ARE NOT ALONE AND YOU ARE LOVED.
And the most important thing that everyone has is our body. It cares about it all the time. And only for you!
-
Think about that. It’s might be helpful to life forward. 🥰

#SLAYYOURWEEKEND: Dealing with negative #body talk.
——-
Listen, we’ve all been there (myself included). There are things we just don’t love about our physical bodies. That said, it’s bullshit if anyone tells you they talk the “self love” talk all the time. When we have that friend (or friends), however, that constantly want to pick themselves apart (or worse, giving us an excuse to join in), it’s not only crushing our psyche, but not helping ANYONE. In fact, it encourages #bodydysmorphia and other serious #health issues. So, what can we do when our friends start that negative chat? A recent article from @msnbc gives us some great pointers:
——
1. Validate: Everyone needs and deserves to feel heard. Period. Validate by giving them a hug, actively listening, or asking what you can do to help them work through these feelings.
2. Agree: I know, surprising. You can’t tell them they’re wrong; it won’t help (for example, omg your ____ is so not_____!). Instead, tell them how they feel isn’t wrong, but you’re not going to agree.
3. Gratitude: Ask to change the negative statement into a positive. In fact, I’d love us to try it in the comments, below. I’ll go first: I hate my nose because it’s crooked, I can’t breathe well, and I need surgery for the bump. However, its #lewk makes me distinctly me and I love me as a whole. Your turn.
4. Kindly Move On: You have every right to tell your friend(s) you love them, but negative self talk isn’t your vibe and you’d rather not participate. Set an example; set a precedent. There are so many more fun and positive things to discuss, anyway.
——
For more resources to improve your body image talk, check out my articles on the @neda blog, as well as all the other on-site resources to get help.
——-
Pic: Class with my amazing friend @amanda_katzz (check out her #NYC schedule @equinox). We have zero time for negativity; we’re too busy being obsessed with each other.

You -- Me -- We .
.
All grow, move, develop and heal at different speeds. Don't compare yourself to someone else and how far they are or look down on those just beginning. We are all here because we made the BIG DECISION -- to recognize and become MORE THAN ANXIETY!
Look up to those who have what you want, model them, recognize what they're doing and how they're doing it. Learn from that but..... DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS! .
.
.
Someone that started their healing journey 2-3-4-10 years ago may be further than you but that's because they were where you are now and put in the hard work and dedication. .
..
Don't get discouraged or think you're not doing something right. You will get there! Be patient, consistent, committed and do the HARD work. Trust me you will see the results you are seeking. .
