I'm so excited, this is my delicious wild garlic!  Wild garlic is considered a wild herb, but you can eat it as a vegetable or raw as a salad.  It has such a short season, you have to make the most of it!  I plan to have some on toast, add to some juicy mushrooms, make a lentil salad and add some to a soup.  I will also whizz some into a pesto towards the end of the season, just to keep some for a little longer! HEALTHIER SNACKS FOR EVERYONE

I love making energy balls and coming up with new flavours and colours that are appealing for grown ups and kids.
.
Although I try and keep sugar to a small amount for Ivy I do give her dried fruit now and then and my balls contain dates. She loves them and tries to steal them out of my hand every time.
.
You can adapt the amount of sweetness by keeping it to a few dates or adding maple syrup and other dried fruit.
.
I always see people with spirulina flavoured treats. It looks great but it’s a really expensive ingredient so I opted for spinach which cost peanuts in comparison and fresh spinach contains so much nourishment (iron, vitamin C and calcium).
.
All these balls are made with cashews, almond flour (ground almonds) and dates. I added fresh spinach to one mix, organic beetroot powder to the red ones and then @drinkmechai to the yellow ones.

RUNNING MOMENTS

The end of a morning run as I slow down for the last 0.2 miles.
.
The longest run in over a week. I made it to 5.1 miles which was pure enjoyment. I watched the light creeping into the sky, from blackness to deep blue in 45 minutes.
.
My energy and focus has been on my sweet baby who has been unwell. There have been days in the past week where sleeping alone hasn’t been a thing. Being close to Ivy has been what she needed to get better.
.
This morning I had a moment of joy and gratitude for my family’s health and time alone with my thoughts. I listened to another Rich Roll podcast, which I love listening to whilst I run. I learn something new about health or life each time.
.
It’s okay to need time alone. It’s essential!! Mummy’s out there, a little reminder that you need to recharge your batteries too.
.
P.s. still living on the edge of sleep. I think teething has a lot to answer for. 🤐

How to cheer yourself up after a shitty day.... Comfort food and gin 😉👌 (only I hadn't planned on having a drink and had no mixers in so cranberry juice it is 😂🍹👌

Let me fill you in on the dinner details 😍 half a roasted sweet potato (smothered in some @flora Light) an @aldiuk no chicken burger, baked beans and roasted veg (yes there are sprouts in there 😁 we had some leftover sprouts in the fridge and I hate waste so I got Barry to chuck them in with the other veg, and it worked 😍) no vegan cheese today but this was topped with BBQ sauce after the photo 😈 I've got the same for work lunch tomorrow minus the No Chicken Burger 👌

Am I sharing about this soup again? YUP. 
Because I make it like once a week and it’s insanely delicious, and I swear by it for stopping sickness in it’s tracks. (Plus I Add to the Deliciousness by pairing it with a good ol’ jersey Tomato sandwich on a homemade bun I mean C’MON!) (Recipe 👇) Proper comfort food that just happens to be vegetarian! This mushroom risotto is so tasty and it's not hard to do. The parmesan crisp makes it look a bit fancy but it's so simple and tastes amazing (I could eat a bowl of them on their own). .
2 knobs butter
10g dried porcini mushrooms 
1 onion - finely diced
2 cloves garlic - grated
200g baby button mushrooms - left whole 
150g chestnut mushrooms - thinly sliced
200g arborio rice
175ml white wine
600ml good quality veg stock 
1 tbsp sour cream or creme fraiche
30g parsley - finely chopped
30g (ish) parmesan - finely grated
1 parmesan rind - just the end off a pack you would buy in the supermarket .
1/ Cover the porcini in about 125ml boiling water and leave to soak. 
2/ Put the stock in a saucepan and heat to just under boiling.
3/ Put 1 knob of the butter in another saucepan on a high heat. Add the mushrooms and cook for 5-10 mins until they are brown and golden all over and a bit crispy at the edges. 
4/ Remove the mushrooms from the pan and put to one side. Turn the heat down to medium and add the rest of the butter, the onion and garlic and cook for 5 mins until they have softened. 
5/ Add the rice to the pan and cook that for 2/3 mins stirring constantly. 
6/ Add the wine, parmesan rind and all the mushrooms into the pan and cook, stirring frequently until the wine has been absorbed. 
7/ Drain the porcini but keep the liquid and add it to the pan with the rice and cook until absorbed. Finely chop the actual mushrooms and then add these to the pot too.
8/ Add the stock a ladelfull at a time cooking each time until it's absorbed, stirring frequently. Do this until the rice is cooked to your liking. 
9/ While this is cooking cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Put the grated parmesan on the tray in 2 vaguely circular piles. Grind some black pepper on top. Put them in a pre heated oven (200 degrees Celsius). They'll take between 5-10 mins. When the cheese starts to darken round the edges take out of the oven and leave to cool.
10/ Take the pan off the heat, remove the parmesan rind and stir in the parsley and sour cream/creme fraiche. Spoon into bowls and top with parmesan crisp(s).

Add the mushrooms and cook for 5-10 mins until they are brown and golden all over and a bit crispy at the edges. 4/ Remove the mushrooms from the pan and put to one side. Turn the heat down to medium and add the rest of the butter, the onion and garlic and cook for 5 mins until they have softened. 5/ Add the rice to the pan and cook that for 2/3 mins stirring constantly. 6/ Add the wine, parmesan rind and all the mushrooms into the pan and cook, stirring frequently until the wine has been absorbed. 7/ Drain the porcini but keep the liquid and add it to the pan with the rice and cook until absorbed. Finely chop the actual mushrooms and then add these to the pot too. 8/ Add the stock a ladelfull at a time cooking each time until it's absorbed, stirring frequently. Do this until the rice is cooked to your liking. 9/ While this is cooking cover a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Put the grated parmesan on the tray in 2 vaguely circular piles. Grind some black pepper on top. Put them in a pre heated oven (200 degrees Celsius). They'll take between 5-10 mins. When the cheese starts to darken round the edges take out of the oven and leave to cool. 10/ Take the pan off the heat, remove the parmesan rind and stir in the parsley and sour cream/creme fraiche. Spoon into bowls and top with parmesan crisp(s). - 23 hours ago

No matter how well I eat whilst away on holiday I always, always crave a plate of chopped up raw veg' - a slaw.
.
Red cabbage, red onion, carrot, apple always form the base and then it's whatever is lurking: walnuts ( last few in their shells still from Christmas), a blood orange, a few parsley leaves and then some toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds sprinkled with soy sauce as they finished in the pan.

The dressing is everything - today's was @betterfoodco 's Ferrante Family olive oil from Abruzzo with @belazu_co moscatel vinegar+ loads of black pepper ( which I so often miss abroad - need to carry a small grinder in my handbag like a good mate of mine).
.
Nothing more required apart from turning up the heating to dry all the clothes I got soaked in this morning.
Still love Bristol.
