Simple joys🤍Every Easter, for as long as I can remember, my grandma dyed the most beautiful Easter eggs using onion skins. It brought me so much joy recreating this springtime memory with the boys and will become a tradition for years to come. If you’re looking for a natural, healthier way to dye your Easter eggs, blueberries + onion skins + beets are all you need!🥚
1. Using 3 medium saucepans, boil 2 cups of water, 1 tsp salt, and the desired fruit/vegetable blend in each for 10-15 minutes.
𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒆: blend 1 cup blueberries and add them to the water mixture.
𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒏: peel 2 cups yellow onion skins and use a spoon to stir them into water mixture.
𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒌: add one chopped fresh beet to the water mixture.
2. Strain the water and place in a bowl. Add 2 Tbsp white vinegar to each dye.
3. Allow them to cool to room temp before using.
4. Gently lower the eggs into the dye. Put the eggs through a few cycles of dipping, drying, and dipping again to achieve desired gradients of color.
