I’ve had two separate incidents over the last 12 months that have really got me thinking about the fabric of my business, and beyond that, what it is I would like it to include and represent.
The first was working together with two para-riders, one who was blind and the other hearing impaired. I realized at that point with renewed clarity how certain elements needed to be considered- and redone- in my online programs to make them accessible to everyone, a thought stream that I had regrettably not paid enough attention to previously.
The second was taking part in a course on intergenerational and racial trauma. I tell you, that was among some of the hardest work and conversations that I have ever been a part of and is an ongoing process of evolution and understanding within me that never sleeps, magnified tenfold by current world events.
Right now, my “outside work” is on a pause of sorts. I am redoing and reconfiguring my membership program and it has afforded me the opportunity to look at the underbelly of my business and how I would like it to look moving forward. My work is a love letter to better horsemanship, better living, and better riding. I bow at the feet of my horses for affording me a lens to view life that has required I be constantly curious and an active participant in my own evolution and have decided to make the following changes in an effort to reflect those values moving forward.
⭐️ This post is too long for Instagram, so it will continue in the comments.
- I will do my utmost to make my online course material accessible to all riders, able-bodied and otherwise. If you are a para-rider who is interested in my work, but your situation limits the material being available to you online and that’s something within my means to control, I would love to hear about what you would need. Please get in touch. NB: This in no way commits you to signing up, it just helps me learn what I don’t know until I know.
- I will be offering a set number of sliding scale memberships to those whose means or situation prevents them from participating in the work. I’m yet to work out exactly what this looks like but will keep you posted.
