I’ll say it once, and no doubt I will say it again: I FREAKIN LOVE THE BIBLE!
For those of you who read my latest post, you know that I wrote on how disciplining yourself to read the Word consistently is imperative to grow in intimacy with the Lord. This morning as I was continuing my study in Hebrews, I read about how God disciplines us.
I mean, come on! I had no idea what I would be reading this morning and I was blown away by how God loves to speak to me, even when I don’t realize He is.
So what did I learn about God’s disciplining us?
I learned that we should never cower away from God when He does discipline us. That, even though discipline can be painful in the moment, it will produce “peaceful fruit that brings forth righteousness.” (Hebrews 12:11)
I learned that He disciplines because He’s a loving Father.
I learned that He disciplines because He wants us to SHARE IN HIS HOLINESS. Let me tell you - THIS is what hit me right in the heart. Our God of the Bible is the only One I know of that actually wants to SHARE His holiness with US. I know about other gods and am still doing my research on them so I am not ignorant, and I have yet to find any other god that actually wants to share with us their holiness.
Does all the glory belong to God? Absolutely, yes. But He loves us SO much that He wants us to share in His holiness so that we may become more like Him - that we may experience eternal life with Him. One day, we WILL experience glorification and we WILL be able to experience His holiness on a grander scale.
All of this to say? The same as I did yesterday. Do not dismiss discipline. It is VITAL for us to not only grow in more intimacy with God, but also to experience peace, righteousness and holiness. Do not grow bitter to correction, but allow it to draw you nearer to His heart. Amen. #WildflowerSplendor - 21 minutes ago
