Yesterday's Lunch/Dinner...Was pretty full after having @tacobell TripleLupa. It was soooo good and worth the 610 calories but best believe I earned it with a great workout!

Happy Saturday!! Here is a super quick but effective AB/Glute/Hamstring workout for you! 
Warm up from @jess_sib37 April HIIT  Challenge.  Sumo squats and hip thrust were part of my previous workout with @rachel_overcome.define.empower -
Warm up:  this alone can be done as a complete workout, just increase rounds. 
Each move is 30 seconds on 10 seconds rest. .
🔥Jump squats (can be done without band).
🔥 Plank  knee to elbow (I went fast here to get my heart rate up. You want to make sure you’re feeling a good oblique twist).
🔥 Jumping  jacks (can be done without hand weights).
🔥 Low plank punches (can be done without weight).

Glute/hamstring workout: 3-5 rounds.
These are done in reps of 12.
🔥sumo squat x12. 
Knees and toes pointed outward. On the way down, drive knees out while dropping you butt low. You should feel this in your hamstring and booty.
🔥Deadlift X12. 
Straight from you Sumo, move feet to shoulder width. Make sure you are driving you hips back, this is a hinge movement. You lead with your booty not your chest.
🔥Banded Hip thrust + abduction. With weight. X 12.
In hip thrust, keep your chin to your chest, no Arching or looking up. Your knees drive forward and squeeze your butt HARD At the top. Repeat.
In the abduction, your butt is squeezing as hard as you can, keeping your hips high (don’t drop your booty) and drive your knees outward.
🔥Hamstring curl X 12.
Try to get up on your shoulders here. Keep you core tight! With feet on ball, extend legs out. Pull feet toward butt and squeeze hamstring. These burn! 🔥Single leg elevated Glute bridge X 12 each side. 
You should feel these in your hamstring and your butt. Keep your core tight. -

For the next 5 days we will be discussing nutrition and the role it plays in your life and why it’s important. .

Today we will discuss a specific kind of carbs which you may or may not have heard of before. They are called acellular carbohydrates.“acellular” carbohydrates, meaning they lack intact cells. Processed foods made from these ingredients can have a very high carbohydrate density—as high as 75 percent. This leads to a dramatic difference in the slurry of food and stomach acid that reaches the gut.

While yes, it’s important to pay attention to overall calories and macros because when we are aware of these things we are promoting a healthy body composition which is undeniably important for your health and wellbeing. .

Researchers propose that foods with a high carbohydrate density promote an inflammatory microbiota, leading to leptin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and obesity.

.

We can easily imagine how this increased carbohydrate concentration could lead to small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), gut dysbiosis, and ultimately leptin resistance and obesity. Inflammation caused by changes in the gut microbiota can cause damage to the hypothalamus and afferent vagus nerve endings, inducing leptin resistance. Without leptin to curb food intake, overeating and weight gain is highly likely.
. --Leptin is a really important conversation that we will cover more this week so stay with me here. .
Ultimately you will have greater results when you adopt a whole food diet with less processed foods, because they just simply are not the same and refined grains are indeed more unhealthy than whole grains. The food structure is different, processed foods are absent of fiber for example which are critical for a healthy gut microbiome (we discussed how important that is in the last two posts.) cont below..

There’s been so much change in our lifestyle. .

We have been working really hard in our home to check in on our physical AND mental health by not just staying active, but making sure we care for our minds, too.  It can be easy to let anxiety creep up about everything. .

One of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday/rest day (or really any day of the week!)...

Yoga and meditation. 🧘🧘🧘 (Even if it’s just getting quiet for a few minutes) .

It’s the first Friday of the month, and since we’re all home anyway...let’s have some Friday introductions! 😉

My name is Rachel King, and I am currently a work at home mom (just like the majority of you 🤪). I’m learning to not mind the mess and embrace the chaos - see exhibit A behind me with all the toys in our office 😂. Also, I hear you’re supposed to try your jeans on every few days to make sure they still fit, so I made myself get dressed in real clothes today...but makeup and shoes didn’t make the cut 😜. As far as the intros go, here are three fun things about me:
1. I LOVE to sing and have been singing since I was little (my Mawmaw actually played the piano while I sang at church for the first time ❤️). I’m definitely no professional, but it sure is fun.
2. I love to read (especially for my quiet time in the mornings), and while I do use Audible for convenience, there is nothing like being able to hold a book and highlight and underline the pages to go back and reflect on it or pass your thoughts and prayers to someone else. 
3. I don’t actually loovvveeee working out (shocker, I know 😮), but I do it because I love the way it makes me feel and I know how good it is for my body - inside and out.
