As health and fitness bloggers, it’s our job to equip you with new ideas and tips, but what’s the best way of incorporating new tips into your routine? Here’s a great way to approach setting up new habits because we all know darn well it’s not that easy.⁠⠀

1 - Pick one or two areas at a time: In order to get a new habit to truly stick, it’s easier to focus on that for a little bit before adding in a new habit.⁠⠀

2 - Value progress over perfection: It’s all about baby steps in the right direction. Don’t compare yourself to someone who’s been meal prepping and eating very healthy for 5 years. Instead compare yourself to your habits last week. Are you eating less processed foods? Are you making more meals at home? Those are all wins!⁠⠀

3 - Be kind & forgiving to yourself: You wouldn’t talk to a friend in a cruel or belittling way, so why do that to yourself? Life’s a cha-cha. You may take one step back to take three steps forward and that’s what matters.⁠⠀

Remember, if you see people with all these great habits, they didn’t add them overnight. Also, not every tip/health habit will resonate with you. Maybe meditation isn’t your thing but you find a gratitude practice grounding. Maybe you hate the sauna but hot yoga is where it’s at for you. Try out things and find what fits with your schedule 😄⁠⠀

Progress update on Bandito!

This handsome fella definitely has something going on with his nose. Mom declined cancer screening and opted for diet change instead. 
We took Bandit off of kibble 10-ish days ago.  These pictures are 1 week apart and there is #nofilter on the images. The angry inflammation has gone down substantially and his black pigment is returning around the edges on his right side. Black is also returning below his right nostril. The shape of his nose is beginning to change back to normal on both sides and the puffiness is moving out. The curvature on his left side appears more normal instead of raised/puffy. The wet gooeyness has also dried out nicely. His little white fur is beginning to grow back too! His nose is running some now due to detox and is temporary as the body repairs. 
I am SO HAPPY for Bandit and his family! I am looking forward to more updates from Mom so we can watch him heal. 
The body is truly amazing❤️❤️ if you have a pup that has cancer or a similar diagnosis, I would love to help your furbaby heal. Warming spices, nutrient-dense veggies, leafy greens, flowers, and love for a dear friend and family who just had a baby. Definitely one of my favorite love languages (pouring loving energy into cooking and giving nourishment). Did you know that turmeric is sooo good for new mamas... well, really for anyone and everyone?? Seriously, it can give you super powers! This ancient spice has so many beneficial properties such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-depressant qualities. Some more reasons to add this colorful goodness to your nourishment routine: it improves digestion, restores energy, supports milk supply (for breastfeeding mamas), reduces inflammation, improves circulation, boosts brain function, dopamine and hormone levels, strengthens immunity, adds warmth and comfort to the mind and body. And add a dash of black pepper to increase bioavailability of turmeric!

I HIGHLY recommend reading Paleofantasy. Unlike much of the nonsense you hear on line, paleo man ate a diet very high in plants and fiber. We know this from evaluation of paleo poop (yes they have found fossilized poop), strontium testing of bones, and carbon studies of the teeth of Australopithecus. More importantly it is often asserted that we are not adapted to our current diets. Zuk, an actual evolutionary anthropologist, lays down important science showing that we have adapted and continue adapt to modern life. I get that for many the notion of the caveman Hunter is both noble and macho. The thing is, cavemen were not eating 3 squares of meat a day. They lived at subsistence levels, starving more than eating. They ate mainly gathered food. They were not eating so they could live until 90 and play with their grandkids, they were trying to survive. They did not develop their brains on some imagined surplus of meat. Nathaniel Dominy PhD has shown quite convincingly that it was likely bulbs and tubers that allowed enough calories for neural growth. I often have people say that fruit is hybridized and nothing like what paleo man ate. Do these people think that the force fed cows loaded with antibiotics and growth hormones are anywhere similar to the meat a caveman ate? This idea that we should eat like cavemen is completely unfounded and a pure fantasy. Your steak and eggs are as paleo as your cell phone.

Activated Almonds!!!!

Have you tried these?!?!

If not, you definitely NEED to!
They pop in your mouth and have a beautiful flavor

Either you can buy them @naturescanada or if you have a dehydrator you can make them yourself!
.
Soak organic almonds in filtered water with a pinch of #seasalt overnight, rinse and drain, place in dehydrator at 105-150F for 12-24 hours.
.
Soaking the almonds removes the tannin contained in the skin which inhibits nutrient absorption. Soaking also releases an enzyme called #lipase which aids in fat digestion
.
Dehydrating further increases their digestibility and makes them extra delicious!

La santé part de l'assiette.
J'aime explorer les saveurs, utiliser les ingrédients les plus frais possibles et réfléchir à créer des repas qui sont un carburant pour mon corps et un plaisir pour les sens.

Mon déjeuner aujourd'hui consistait d'un tortilla au blé complet garni de sauce végétal tahini-yaourt-moutarde, de salade, persil et copeaux de fromage de brebis et de galettes maison panées (tofu curry, quinoa, haricots blancs, paprika fumé, persil). J'ai accompagné cette galette de champignons marinés à la sauce soja et ail.
