DIY Solar System Necklaces ☀️🌎
We had so much fun with these necklaces! And as my 6 year old pointed out, if he wears it all of the time he won’t have to remember the order of the planets 😅
What you need:
☀️ wooden beads (assorted sizes)
☀️ acrylic paint
☀️ modge podge
☀️ paint brushes
We started off by taking a look at the sizes we had and determining which should be used for each planet. Of course it’s not to scale :)
Then the kids had creative freedom while painting, but all 3 chose to use @stephhathawaydesigns poster as inspiration. That cute card on the following image is a nice way to remember the order of the planets too! “My Very Excited Mom Just Served Us Noodles!” I may just have to serve noodles tonight and be very enthusiastic about it! 😂
We put one bead on a pipe cleaner at a time to be able to paint all the way around, and once they were dry a quick coat of modge podge sealed them up and gave them a nice gloss.
The boys then challenged themselves to put them on their necklace in the correct order, starting with the sun! Such a fun morning activity that really solidified a lot of what we have been reading about earlier this week (planet order, size, characteristics and so forth).
Now we are taking off 🚀 for the snowy outdoors. Time to 🛷 sled!!
