It's overwhelming.

Feeling helpless? I'm no therapist, but I try to be a decent human, so... Wave to a neighbor.

Smile at a stranger.

Lend a shoulder, an ear, or even a hand if that's cool.

Choose not to lash out at someone's opinion on social media. Instead, compliment someone.

These may be small things... but they are simple things you can do right now. And you never know who might need it, or how big it can really be.

Why? Because everyone could use more compassion. Especially now.

As beginner to steel macebell training my training wheels are on and I'll be sharing the 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 of the journey (awkward movements, bonking myself in the head and such) and would love for you to come along for the ride. 🙏

I will update every so often on my progress into what is called "𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄" where one puts a series of exercises together that will hopefully end up looking like a wonderfully choreographed dance or fight scene from a martial arts movie instead of dad dancing.😂

The mace has been around for thousands of years and used in many cultures, but it's first use for fitness can be traced to India, where it is called Gada. .
𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀:
It is the epitome of functional training due to it's uneven weight distribution, awareness needed, movement and muscle activation required and will benefit anyone looking to improve their 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and physical capabilities.

🚨 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐔𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐅 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓!🚨 Some possible common injuries and/or dysfunctions that can happen in this area are tendonitis (from repetitive motion, etc), sprains and strains (from falls) and De Quervain's Tenosynovitis (commonly known as mother's thumb). Strengthening the structures around the wrist can help rehabilitate and prevent these injuries from reoccurring.

1️⃣ 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗙𝗟𝗘𝗫𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦:
Start in the same position as the wrist extensions but with the palm facing up towards the ceiling. Slowly lower the dumbbell down towards the ground followed by curling the wrist back up towards the ceiling to the starting position.

2️⃣ 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦:
Grab a hold of a dumbbell with the forearm rested on a flat surface with the wrist slightly hanging off. Point the palm downwards and slowly lower the dumbbell to the ground. Lift the dumbbell back up to the starting position.

3️⃣ 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦:
Start in the same position as above but with the pinky side facing down towards the floor. Slowly lower the dumbbell to the ground followed by lifting it back up to the starting position. Alternatively, you can hold the dumbbell at the top if there is any discomfort during the exercise.

4️⃣ 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 & 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡:
Start in the same position as above but holding the very bottom of the dumbbell. Slowly lower the dumbbell to the floor by rotating your hand towards the ceiling followed by twisting it backwards and rotating the palm towards the ground and repeat.

Never had a bad day that I started off in nature. Active recovery with a view can make it that much more enjoyable. Next time you have a low intensity cardio session try it outside. Or DM for more info on how to incorporate active recovery into your training.⁣
