This is Bavard de Santa Caterina. It’s the road we run that takes us through Parròquia de Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla, a 17th century baroque church that’s a monumental landmark for Sitges, especially from the Mediterranean. Later in the morning, by 9 or 10 am, and especially on weekends, it’s lined with local artisans selling their goods, handmade earrings, bracelets and bags. The local merchants in their stores gripe because apparently the street merchants don’t pay taxes on their sales.
Though, their muscles and bones may regret it, this stone road is so old and worn one could slide down it on a rainy day without tearing their clothes.
From there, we run along summertime’s more popular beaches. I’ve wondered if their draw is because on the opposite end is the nude beach. Not everyone has that confidence or tolerance.
Not having run consistently for many months, we’re up to two miles now. We’re only have four runs in but are feeling good. Our goal is to be running between 5 – 7 miles 3 – 4 times a week before we had to Paris in three months.
Fingers crossed! We couldn’t ask for a better spot to build stamina.
