Always scouting for new picnic spots!
Had a little lunch beside this epic cave after exploring its depths. Bone cold inside. The river that runs through it was equally refreshing. A ceiling covered in massive stalactites, there were various holes in the ground which lead to underground water channels.
We read that back in the day, Barton Creek Cave was used by Mayan priests to perform sacred rituals, and apparently there are still ceremonial treasures hidden inside.
Chased out of the area by a spontaneous and massive jungle deluge that threatened to wash out our exit road and left us soaked and laughing. - 6 minutes ago
