📚💁♀️ Friends 💁♀️📚 I wanted to post today, but I didn't have any ideas. Then this wonderful bookmark came in the mail, from @rachelkovaciny and my heart swelled up to three times its normal size. 😊 This was right after I watched the George Floyd memorial service and observed the 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence. Wow.
Sometimes you are not sure how your faith in humanity can be restored. Then you see an eloquent speaker talk about time, and receive a lovely, thoughtful note in the mail. Thank you, Rachel! Look at the quote! "There are no faster or firmer friendships than those formed between people who love the same books." Humans are malleable. And resilient. We change. I know I have changed over the past week. And I will keep on changing.
I hope that everyone has had time to reflect on what they want their actions to be going forward. That reflection doesn't end, but it is important to begin. If we all could change just our own little sphere, think how powerful that would be.
I am looking forward to a day off tomorrow. I am going to start Great Expectations. I am wrung out completely from working in the heat this week and I am off now until Saturday. There have been some other difficulties going on and I severely need the time off to recharge. I am just hoping I can finally settle down and read.
These past two weeks have been so stressful. Pandemic, civil unrest, curfew, heat wave, working outside in 90+ temps? Then my therapist is leaving! No! Bad timing, man. Enough. I may have been quiet on here, but only because I am beat.
Tell me the name of a book that you bonded over with someone! Tag them if you like. We all know books bring people together. I want to see the real live evidence of that.
No justice, no peace.
#MissHavishamsbookclub I am trying another Dickens! This one is a brick. I am determined.
