Which got me thinking about how important the work that we do as sex educators truly is.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sex educators are HEALERS, LIBERATORS, CONFIDANTS, COUNSELORS, VISIONARIES. We hold people as they walk through their deepest shame & most difficult traumas because we believe in their resilience and the importance of defining pleasure on our own terms.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(The best sex educators understand that pleasure is a RIGHT, not a privilege.)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But in order for us to do all this incredible work, we have to let go of being afraid to own the roles that we play in the world. That starts with standing up proudly to say that we are committed to making the world a more sexually liberated place, by standing up as the leaders we rightfully are.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We must lead by example, and embody the values that we say we're standing up for. That means creating space for more marginalized sex educators to step into their power, run successful businesses, and support themselves fully while changing the lives of their clients.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Don’t be shy... about giving a crapton of prepwork before giving an intensive ⠀

One of the key factors between “trading time for dollars” and “scaling revenue FAST”?⠀

Getting clients to do SERIOUS WORK before they ever meet with you. ⠀

A mistake I see people make is trying to “not bother” clients in advance of the call but it’s a huge disservice to you AND the client. ⠀
⠀
They could be making serious headway on their own *before* they jump on Zoom, and you’ll be able to go deeper since you covered a lot up front. ⠀

(Sooooo they’ll get more out of the session... and better results... be head over heels about the time you spent together... and want more! ❤️)⠀

Yesterday while doing the prep work before an intensive I’m having with a coach next week, I pinpointed a few “obvious but on the backburner” problem areas...⠀

And realized it was actually a WAAAAAY bigger priority than I thought.⠀

I’d been putting it off for, oh, 8 months! 🙈⠀
⠀
And you know what?⠀

I GOT IT DONE.⠀
⠀
Yeppp, I forked over thousands of dollars to a coach to realize 1 thing I already *knew* I should do. ⠀

But if I didn’t have this intensive - and prepwork - I would have put it off for another gazillion months.⠀

Another common scenario is the woman who is convinced she needs to exercise more to lose weight. There may be some truth in that assumption. What she may be neglecting to notice is her nutrition (not just quantity but quality), her stress levels, her mindset, the amount and quality of sleep she is getting, her environment, her support system (or lack thereof), her current hormone levels and so on. Weight loss is not always as simple as getting more exercise.

Some of you all are feeling relieved right now. You’re feeling hopeful that maybe you really can change. Others of you are feeling further frustrated and overwhelmed because you’re realizing it’s not a simple as you thought. Let me assure you that it’s normal to feel either way. Over and over and over again, I hear of women who are trusting this blog, that expert or the neighbor down the street while at the same time completely ignoring what their bodies are screaming at them. Ladies, pain is your body telling you something is not right. Are you on the latest diet and feel hungry alllll the time – listen to that! Are you trying to do the same high-intensity exercise your friends are doing but your body is yearning for yoga? Notice! Have you started a pile of new supplements as recommended by your practitioner and you’re getting an upset stomach every time you take them? Don’t ignore that! No one knows your body as intimately as you do but you NEED to listen to it. You will be amazed at what you will learn when you do.

Avoid Hormone Disruptors From the Environment⁠

Just as animals have stressors in their environment, we too have stressors in our environment. Those stressors, if consistent or elevated, can disrupt our own natural hormone production.⁠

Consider the things in your environment that are toxic to your hormones. Things like…⁠
⁠

●	Canned foods⁠
●	Non-stick pans⁠
●	Fire retardant⁠
●	Carpet⁠
●	Skin products⁠

… can cause hormone imbalance and lead to negative symptoms in the body.⁠

You can find plastic hardeners, like BPA and BPS, in everything from plastics to sales receipts to canned goods. ⁠
Many of the toxins we wear on our skin (lotions, potions, and shampoos) may have toxins that are disrupting your hormones and endocrine system. ⁠

Additionally, you’ll find more hormone disruptors in you the products you clean your home with. Those chemicals destroy hormones. ⁠
⁠
So, how do you practically avoid hormone disruptors from the environment? Read the labels. If you don’t know an ingredient, look it up. Chances are that if you’re not familiar with it, it’s probably not good for your hormone health. ⁠

You may not be able to avoid all hormone disruptors in your environment, but try to remove as many as you can. You can also look for non-toxic lines. My favorite skincare line is Beauty Counter. I also love Branch Basics for household cleaning and laundry. ⁠

Case in point. Years ago, I regularly stayed exhausted and fatigued. Doctors kept telling me it was because I had five young children – why wouldn’t I feel tired? That’s a bigger story for another day. That said, I decided I was going to try to track my steps because I was certain I got more than the recommended 10,000 per day. I was convinced that I spent all day on my feet caring for those previously mentioned little ones. I started tracking and to my complete shock, I was only averaging 5,000 steps! I was dumbfounded. I was seriously getting half as much exercise as I thought I was.

Reason #3: We try to “go it alone.”
.
It is my personal belief that we were created to be in community. I fully recognize in today’s modern overprogrammed and fast-paced environment, that is easier said than actually done. While there are some outliers who can set goals and pursue them on their own, the fact is, most of us need others to be a part of that process. Whether that is by means of accountability, coaching, problem-solving, motivation or encouragement, making change within a community (like my upcoming Hope, Health, and Healing group) is much more likely to lead to success.

Diet culture has made us scared of fruit. Guys. FRUIT!

Fruit is packed full of vitamins, nutrients, and fiber. It’s also one of the most hydrating types of foods. If a health care provider or anyone else tells you to remove fruit from you diet, PLEASE, do me a favour and make sure you know why you’re removing it – if whoever is suggesting this doesn’t have a compelling reason you may want to consider doing your own research or get a second opinion.

Yes, certain digestive conditions (like IBS and SIBO) require specific diets with less fruit. And yes, there will always be people with intolerances to certain fruits (a big one here is pineapple). And yes, there are some fruits that are more likely to have immune-activating molds (looking at you, cantaloupe). But overall, fruit is healthy – and arguably a lot healthier than your packaged, processed, paleo-vegan-glutenfree-nonGMO-organic-blahblahblah protein bar sweetened with stevia.

People will always argue that “fruit sugar” is a problem. I agree. Highly processed fructose is not ideal. Diet culture has made us scared of fruit. Guys. FRUIT! Fruit is packed full of vitamins, nutrients, and fiber. It’s also one of the most hydrating types of foods. If a health care provider or anyone else tells you to remove fruit from you diet, PLEASE, do me a favour and make sure you know why you’re removing it – if whoever is suggesting this doesn’t have a compelling reason you may want to consider doing your own research or get a second opinion. Yes, certain digestive conditions (like IBS and SIBO) require specific diets with less fruit. And yes, there will always be people with intolerances to certain fruits (a big one here is pineapple). And yes, there are some fruits that are more likely to have immune-activating molds (looking at you, cantaloupe). But overall, fruit is healthy – and arguably a lot healthier than your packaged, processed, paleo-vegan-glutenfree-nonGMO-organic-blahblahblah protein bar sweetened with stevia. People will always argue that “fruit sugar” is a problem. I agree. Highly processed fructose is not ideal. Your friend starts pointing you to all the research, blogs, books, podcasts and resources to complete her preferred plan successfully. You start learning, digging deep and you go all in. When our hormones are disrupted, we experience weight gain, mood swings, insomnia, depression, hair loss, lack of energy, water retention, brain fog, miscarriages, and/or inability to conceive. Unfortunately, this list continues, depending on the hormones that are causing the issue.⁠
